TW: mentions of parental abuse

PETERS POV

a warm saturday afternoon. unusual for how the weather has been for the last few months, but it makes me smile anyway.

i look up to the large 'oscorp' sign on the tall skyscraper. i drag myself into the building. purely coming to look around, and to meet doctor connors. i heard may mention his name this morning, and my dad's name along with that. which made me instantly curious, naturally.

"can i help you?" the woman at the front desk asks sweetly, a kind, but skeptical, smile on her face.

"i don't know. i'm here to see.. doctor. clnnors" i tell her, walking closer to the desk and placing my palms on it.

"right. well, you'll find yourself to the left. if you are here for the internship?" she questioned skeptical once again.

"uh- yeah. yeah." i stumble over my words, inwardly cringing at myself.

"you'll find your badge to the left." she says, before turning her attention back to her computer screen.

a few badges lay on the desk, and i'm instantly panicking. i shouldn't of been so curious.

i see her glance at me. then a second time. then a third. "having trouble finding yourself?" she asks, half-genuinley.

"no.. yeah, i got it" i say with way too much confidence. i pick up a random badge, and hold it up. she inspects it, and i can see her contain laughter.

"okay... mr guevara" i nod. "that's me." i confirm, nodding once again.

i take the badge and attach it to myself, looking round oscorp with wonder, and slowly walking up the stairs. however, a small gathering with a familiar face catches my eye.

i smile and walk over to the larger group, attaching my pin to my shirt. gwen stands at the front of the group, holding a clipboard she smiled at the group. "welcome to oscorp. norn from the mind of our great founder, norman osborn... the tower houses 108 floors of innovation. our scientific minds are pushing the boundaries of defence, biomedical... and chemical technologies. the future lies within." she smiles, finishing her speech about the history of oscorp.

"i'm gwen stacy, a senior at midtown science... and head intern to doctor connors. i'll be with you for the duration of your visit. where i go, you go. that's the only rule. remember that... and all will be fine."

my ears prick up at the sound of connors' name. former colleague of my dad.. found through a newspaper clipping in my closet, somehow.

while distracted, i gaze downstairs over the balcony. there i see a guy being pushed out of the door by sevurity. "come on! tell them rodrigo guevara is here. just tell them... rodrigo guevara is here!" i cover my mouth with my hand to stop myself from laughing to loudly. looking to the side of me, i see the rest of the group also looking over the balcony.

"i'm don't need to tell you what happens if you forget." gwen smiles politely. "come around this way" she beckons us over, and we all follow, me trailing at the back so she doesn't see me too clearly.

as she points to something to start explaining, a male voice comes from behind us. "good afternoon, gwen."

he walks round to where gwen stands, and she smiles once again, politely. "doctor connors. welcome." she says.

he turns round to all of us, and announces himself. "my name is doctor curtis connors. yes, in case you're wondering, i'm not a cripple... i'm a scientist, and the world's foremost authority on herpetology..." noticing some people's confusion, he explains further: "that's repltiles for those of you who don't know"
