THE NEXT DAY, AFTER SIRIUS' VISIT, the four Gryffindors made theirway up to the Owlery in order to send Percy, Ron's older brother, an owl, regarding the absence of Barty Crouch. Ascella thought that this was a lost cause, as Percy was extremely dedicated to his work, and to his boss, so the likeliness of him spilling any details to Ron was highly improbable.
Afterwards, they proceeded down to the Kitchens, so Harry could Dobby some new socks, and Ascella wanted to see Binky, who she hadn't seen in awhile. The house-elves, as per usual, offered them a warm and cheery welcome, beckoning them into the toasty confines of the Kitchens.
"It is good to see Miss Black!" exclaimed Binky jovially, wrapping her frail arms around Ascella's knees. "Binky has missed you very much!"
"I've missed you too, Binky," Ascella smiled down at the small elf who was clutching her legs. "How has everything been here? Have you heard from my mum?"
"Oh, everything has been good, Miss! Yes, very good," Binky replied, releasing her grip on Ascella. "Mistress Laurent sent Binky a letter a few days ago, saying that she wants her back at the manor for summer. Binky is very, very happy to be going home!"
"It'll be nice to have you home, Binky," Ascella said. Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, before asking, "Hey, Binky? Where's Winky?"
Binky frowned deeply, "Over there, Miss."
Ascella glanced over to where Binky said, her frown matching Binky's as she spotted the saddened elf, swaying drunkenly on a small, wooden stall, empty bottles of butterbeer surrounding her, a half-empty one clutched in her small hand. Her clothes were ragged, falling limply off her body, and she had allowed herself to become so filthy she was almost unrecognisable.
