THAT SAME NIGHT, ASCELLA FOCUSED ON UNDERSTANDING HER ABILITIES FOR THE first time ever. It was tough, attempting to use her mind to control what she does with her hands. Ascella wasn't silly, she knew there was still a long time until she had complete control over her siphoning — it took her years to be able to control her metamorphmagus abilities against her emotions.

Elijah had explained to her how he had done some digging into the Laurent family, Ascella's lineage incredibly important for her advancing in her abilities. Ascella was rather curious as to what Elijah had found out about her family, as the Laurent family had always been a mystery for her. Elijah revealed that her family line had a unique taste for Legilimency, the ability to infiltrate the mind.

That was Elijah's main focus for her and their next few lessons. Allowing her to perfect the ways of Legilimency, and Occlumency, as blocking out other, unwanted people from her head was necessary too, and just as important as Legilimency.

"We must begin with the idea of clearing out your mind from any woes or troublesome thoughts," Elijah explained. "Having a blank mind allows you to focus on what you're attempting to do, which is refuse entrance from those who want to permeate your thoughts, and letting yourself see into someone else's head, which can be extremely fundamental, especially in the coming times that are approaching."

"How so?" Ascella queried, curious. She'd never seen this side to Elijah before — sterner and much more stricter. He wasn't her friend who smiled at her and encouraged her when she was down and insecure about the 'freakiness' of her powers. No, this was the man who owned a multi-million institution and ordered people around harshly when they weren't following the rules that he put in place.
