Kenma's POV
"Kuroo! No! Don't-" I sighed heavily as I watched Kuroo get killed by a player.
"Ah! Wait, come revive me!" He shouted.
"Did you have a green flare gun?" I asked, aiming through my scope as I shot at the two players that continued to seach Kuroo's belongings.
"No?" He frowned. I sighed and glanced over at the camera to see him watching me.
"Then I can't revive you." I hummed. I groaned and ran to the nearest car to take cover. "Ughhh, Kuro, why did you run out in the opennnn, you basically left me for dead." I whined, successfully knocking one of them down.
"I'm sorryyy.." He whispered, still staring at me through the camera. I hummed, a bit of amusement showing in my small smile as I shot down the other one, killing them both.
"AH FUCK!" I shouted as I got shot down by an unknown player.
"Kenma, Language...." He sung. "We don't want your mom or Kaede hearing." I pouted getting quiet as I listened to see if they heard me. I sighed and looked at Kuro, blushing since he was already looking at me.
"Stop staring at me so much, you're making me nervous." I murmured, looking away from the camera to hide my blush.
"Hm? But I like looking at you. You're pretty." He smiled, resting his chin on his hand as he leaned closer to the camera.
"Kuro, you look dumb." I mumbled, rolling my eyes playfully.
"Just for you." He flirted, making me cringe slightly.
"Ew.." I mumbled, as my door opened, revealing Kaede. We all got quiet and just stared at each other. My desk was right in front of the door so Kuroo had a view of this as well. I uncomfortably looked over at my window before looking back at him.
"Um...I forgot what I was going to say." Kaede finally sighed, I hummed and slowly nodded my head, glancing over at my laptop screen to see Kuroo talking with his roommate about something.
"Oh! Uh, me and mom was going to go to the store to buy some flowers, do you wanna join us?" He mumbled, I frowned and slowly tilted my head in confusion.
"Why are you buying flowers?" I asked. Kaede gave me a unreadable look before sighing lightly.
"Dad's anniversary is this week." He mumbled.
"Huh? W-Wait-"
"Kenma? Helloooo? Y-M breaking up!" Kuroo shouted and sung through the phone.
My head snapped towards him in confusion. "We're breaking up?" I frowned.
"What?!" Kuroo shouted. I opened my mouth but closed it quickly after, turning back to Kaede.
"Why didn't I remember.." I whispered to myself, suddenly feeling the guilt build up inside of me.
"Don't worry, it's fine. Anyway, were you coming?" He asked. I bit my lip and nodded slowly, watching as he closed the door.
I turned to my computer screen and sighed, me and Kuroo making direct eye contact.
"I kinda thought you were breaking up with me, just now." He sighed in relief.
"What? Why- Nevermind, um..yeah, I'll talk to you later." I mumbled, hanging up the call and getting out of the chair. I sighed and left my room, quickly putting on a random hoodie from the floor as Kaede grabbed the keys, handing it to mom.
"Ready?" He asked, looking back at me. I shrugged and sighed lightly, walking out of the door. I heard my mother sigh from behind me before following me to the car.
I got in and immediately buckled up, wanting to sit in the middle.
Why am I so nervous?
I've been in a car before, a million of times. What's so different now? Why was I currently picking at my fingers.
Why was I so hesitant in even coming? Was it the fact that I had been worried of my mother's reaction?
Was it the fact that it was the first time that we've been in a car together? Was it the fact that our family was almost complete?
Or was it the fact that I was scared of causing yet another d-
"Shit!" Kaede cursed loudly as my mother harshly turned the wheel, making me jerk to the left.
I gasp and bit my lip, as she stops the car, only seconds from crashing into another one.
Kaede sighed in relief as I sat there, not sure if I was breathing or not. "FUCKING BITCH!" My mother shouted, causing me to flinch and tightly shut my eyes, remembering unwanted memories again.
"Fucking bastard..." She chuckled, as she slowly walked up to me.
I covered my now bleed nose and slowly tried to get up from the floor. "You want more? Fine, I'll give you more." She laughed.
I felt a grip on my hair and suddenly I was being dragged from the livingroom to her room.
"P-Please...I'm s-sorr-"
"Shut up!" She yelled, throwing me against the wall in front of her.
"KENMA!"
I flinched at the loud yell, looking at Kaede as he frowned at me from the front seat. "Are you okay, you look a little pale?" My mother asked, turning back to me. I blinked a few times, trying to figure out what happened before swallowing harshly.
"Y-Yeah, I'm okay. J-Just um....Yeah, I'm fine.." I manged to whisper loud enough for them to hear. They both frowned at me one more time before turning back and talking quietly to each other. I let out a breath before looking down at my hands that clawed at each other blindly. I blinked at a face pace, trying to keep myself from remembering anything.
Was that the feeling at my father had when he died? Was he feeling the fright of it like I had felt?
I quickly wiped and scratched at my eyes, attempting to stop the tears that had fell out. I quietly sniffed and attempted to swallow the knot that had been in my throat.
How ironic it would be if I died the same way that my father had....
I giggled to myself quietly, a small smile making its way onto my face.
Ironic..
