- VEXATION -
ELEVEN'S WOUND WAS nasty. She was screaming and crying as something moved around inside her leg. One of her hands gripped onto Mike while the other held Irina's good arm.
"We have to get it out." Irina said and Jonathan jumped to his feet.
"Keep her talking, keep her awake, okay?" He said before sprinting away. Irina looked up at Steve with worry written across her face. Steve placed his hand on her shoulder and gently rubbed it reassuringly while his other hand was over his mouth in nausea at the sight of El's leg. Irina thought her arm hurt, but her pain must be nothing compared to El's right now. Jonathan soon returned with a wooden spoon, medical gloves and a knife. Everyone knew what he was going to do. What he had to do.
"Jesus Christ." Dustin muttered.
"El, this is gonna hurt like hell, okay? You're gonna wanna bite down on this." Jonathan said, handing Mike the wooden spoon to place in El's mouth.
The sound of the knife cutting into Eleven's skin made everyone wince. Blood dropped down her leg as she let out a cry of agony and squeezed onto Mike and Irina tighter. Irina had to turn away and look to Steve when Jonathan began digging his fingers around in the open wound to try and get the creature out of El's leg.
"Jonathan!" Nancy yelled when Eleven's screams were at their loudest.
"Stop! Stop it! Stop!" Eleven begged and let go of Mike and Irina. "I can do it. I can do it." She murmured, sitting up and outstretching her hand towards her leg. She grunted and groaned as the thing moved around in her leg before she let out a full blown scream and the shop window besides them shattered into pieces. Steve's arms shot around Irina, instinctively wanting to protect her from any glass that came their way, which, luckily, it didn't.
Eleven used her powers to throw the small, slimy creature away from them across the mall. Her screams stopped as someone stomped on the creature, squishing it to death - Hopper. He was here with Joyce and Murray.

Steve stood with his hands protectively on Irina's waist as they all listened to Mike explain to Hopper what had been happening. It was rare Steve didn't have his hands on Irina anymore. Just so he knew that she was right there besides him, and that she was okay - as far as okay was when they'd had the summer they had.
"The Mind Flayer. It built this monster in Hawkins, to stop El, to kill her, and pave a way into our world." Mike explained.
"And it almost did." Nancy added. "That was just one tiny piece of it."
