STEVE SQUINTED INTO the distance over to Starcourt from the top of the hill. He could've sworn he saw something. All the lights were flickering red, white and blue and he knew exactly what that meant.
"Hey, guys..." He called Dustin, Erica and Robin over to make sure they were seeing what he was seeing.
"Shit." Dustin muttered and they all ran to the radio. "Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop, over. Do you copy? Do you copy?!" He asked frantically, but shut his mouth when he heard a creature's shriek through the walkie before it went static. The dread in Steve's stomach had never hit him harder. He couldn't even find the words to describe the panic he felt at that moment. Why weren't they answering? Where the hell was Irina? So instead, he jumped to his feet and began running.
"Where are you going?!" Erica called.
"To get them the hell outta there!" He yelled, still in a frantic sprint towards the car. "Stay here, contact the others!"
Robin ran after Steve, ignoring Dustin's shouts of protest. Steve was already in the car when Robin got to him and he was in a frenzy rushing her along. He sped down the road so fast that Robin thought the engine was going to explode.
"Steve, maybe you should slow down. Just a little." Robin muttered, but Steve didn't listen.
"She could be dead, Robin." Was all he said. "What if she's dead?!" He panicked.
"Irina's not dead, Steve! She's smart, she'll be somewhere safe." Robin attempted to reassure him.
As the car approached Starcourt's parking lot, Steve and Robin saw Billy in his car speeding towards another car, which, from what they saw, had Nancy and Jonathan on the outside and two others sat inside the car. Nancy was shooting at Billy, but he wasn't stopping. Steve drove straight for Billy and managed to knock his car away from the group with a loud crash, making Steve and Robin violently jolt in their seats. That's when they saw the Mind Flayer on top of the building once again. It sent chills down their spines. Steve was quick out of the car and was straight to Nancy and Jonathan, and the two other occupants in the car, who were Lucas and Will.
"Irina? Where's Irina?" He immediately questioned them.
"She was inside with Mike, El and Max. We all got separated, but they hid. They're still in there." Nancy explained.
"Shit." Steve growled and started towards the building.
"No! Steve, we have to think of something to help them! We can't just walk in. We'll all die." Jonathan stopped him.
