A few minutes later, I swung across the city, searching for Chat Noir. He wasn't usually an easy person to find, unless he made himself known. Especially these past few months, with his abilities strengthening. With no luck, I headed over to the Eiffel Tower, perching on the railing near the top. My mind wandered back to the nightmare that occurred the night before, and I shuddered.
"M'lady," a voice said behind me. A gloved hand touched my shoulder, trying to grab my attention. I jumped slightly, whipping my head around and coming face to face with Chat himself. He chuckled, grabbing both shoulders as an attempt to steady me.
"Finally falling for me?" He joked. I glared at him for a few seconds, but smiled at his stupid pun. He released my shoulders, and I hopped down closer to the middle of the tower. He followed suit, extending his staff and sliding down next to me. He crouched on the rail, staring out into the distance of the city. The rain drizzled onto the both of us.
"Did, uh, you want to start patrol?" Chat Noir asked, breaking the silence.
"Sure Chaton," I responded, then tensing up slightly. Damn, I called him Chaton last night. Never once had I in my hero form. I looked at him from the corner of my eye, looking for recognition in his eyes. Chat frowned slightly, deep in thought. For a moment my anxiety flared, but when his big grin broke out, I breathed an internal sigh of relief. Thank the lord. I grinned in return, and threw my yoyo.
For the next two hours, we patrolled the different areas of the city, only stopping mild arguments and petty thefts. We landed on a higher building around midday for a break, resting on the edge. A comfortable silence surrounded us. Our thighs were slightly touching, but neither of us made a motion to move away. There was no need to.
"Bugaboo," Chat Noir said, bringing an arm around my shoulder, pulling me a little closer. (What a charmer, I thought sarcastically) "Have you given any thought about accepting my offer to go to the movies anytime soon?"
I rolled my eyes, remarking, "Not really. I've been really busy recently. Why?"
"Well, we should definitely go! Just you and me," he exclaimed, squeezing my arm slightly. I sighed, and shrugged his arm off me. Standing up I bent over slightly, looking into his emerald green eyes.
"Chatttttt, you know we can't. We're superhero partners, not lovers."
"It's basically the same thing!" He argued back.
"You are impossible, you know that?" I stare at him. "Perhaps there is someone else who could go with you. Someone else you care about." I smiled, bowed to him as he usually did to me, and swung away.
By the time I arrived back home, it was early evening. I had made a few other stops around the city just to kill time. And, it was closer to getting dark, which meant an easier time for me to slip onto my balcony and detransform. I landed on my balcony, and hopped down inside. My parents at this point usually left me alone, unless I called for them, so there was no worry of them seeing me. I closed the trapdoor, and flopped onto my bed. "Spots off," I muttered. Tikki zoomed out and grabbed a macaroon from the bedside where I usually left them for her. She took a bite, and floated down to sit on my shoulder.
"Marinette," Tikki started, "you have to be careful what you say to Chat Noir in your superhero form now that he stops by." I internally cringed, nodding my head. She was talking about the nickname I had created for Chat.
"I knowwww Tikki," I sighed. "It was a slip up, but thankfully for us, he didn't connect the dots."
"Who didn't connect the dots?" A voice came from above, my trap door opening to reveal Chat. Tikki, in impressively record time, phased through the bed to hide. "Who were you talking to?"
"Holy shit!" I looked up, holding my hand over my heart. "You scared me. Chat, you can't just come in whenever you want to, I could be changing or something!"
"Wouldn't deter me," he retorted, his smile obnoxiously wide. "It might even encourage me to do it more often." I stared at him for a second, shocked at the innuendo and he laughed loudly at the look on my face.
I grabbed a pillow that was next to me, chucking it at him to wipe the smirk off his face. To my surprise (And delight) it hit him square in the face. Hilarious stuff.
"Princesse," he growled. Pouncing over to where I was, he pushed me on my back. His hands were level with my head on the bed, and his legs were on both sides of my hips. I tried to push him off, with no avail.
"Chaton," I whined, "Get off."
"Nope, I have to teach you a lesson," he replied. "I am slicker and wittier than you are. Good luck getting up." His tail lashed behind him, but it was all in jest. He was playing around.
"Wow, such a strong beast," I mocked. "Just thought you should know, this position is very suggestive."
That comment threw him off guard for a moment. "Dirty mind alert. Ma belle, I thought you were better than that."
"Just like you thought you were better than this," I suddenly threw him off with surprising strength, enough to knock him off the bed. He yowled as he plopped to the floor. I gasped, worried I hurt him for a moment, until he grabbed the edge of the bed with his claws. Pulling himself up, he muttered,
"That...Never happened. You saw nothing." I smirked, and nodded.
"So, you wanna tell me why you stopped by tonight?" He glanced up, and fiddled with his claws for a moment.
"Couldn't I just stop by to say hello?"
"Are you sure that's the only reason why?" He was silent for a few moments, and shook his head no.
"I kinda wanted to ask you...maybe if you wanted to see a movie together?" Ah, so he did take my advice.
"A movie, huh?" I climbed down my ladder to get down to where he was and sat down on the floor cross legged.
"Yep, we could go to the theater, or we could do it here! Like netflix or something." He sat down with me, his tail unconsciously curling around my waist. I knew his tail almost had a mind of its own, but it was clearly being influenced by his emotions. I glanced over at him, his face slightly flushed as he realized where his tail had gone.
"Netflix. Almost like Netflix-n -"
"DON'T SAY IT! I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT." I laughed hard, his face flushing almost scarlet.
"All right all right. Yes we can do that. And let's do it here. You know how the news stations are with you and Ladybug."
He grinned and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. "Hell yea! Thank you chéri!" I smiled, and hugged him back.
"I can tell you're quite ecstatic about this," I commented as he pulled away. He nodded.
"Of course! It'll be so great, just the two of us!"
"I can make popcorn, and we can watch something on my laptop if you want." He nodded again. "I also can grab extra blankets so it'll be super comfy up there to snuggle with."
Chat smirked for a moment. "Extra blankets to snuggle with. We're approaching dangerous territory Marinette." I rolled my eyes, slightly blushing.
I walked over to my chaise, and muttered, "it's a date then." He sidled up next to me as we sat down, our thighs touching. A sense of deja vu rolled over me from earlier. I put my head on Chat's shoulder, closing my eyes. He purred slightly, sending vibrations into my shoulder and leg. It just felt perfect.
