Montana's POV
"Take a seat," he demands looking at me intently as I move over to his desk. His voice sends shivers down my spine with how manly it is, it's so dominant. It's manly, but in a way that makes him assert dominance. I can not describe it, nothing other than the fact that he absolutely knows how much his presence in a room changes the dynamic and he's playing on that.
I take long strides that radiate confidence as I sit down. One thing I learned from pageants all those years my mom put me in, is to fake it until you make it. I will not be pushed around by anyone, I spent most of my life living that way, and I refuse to go back into that lifestyle.
"Montana Derek." He states as I sit calmly. "I was told you wanted to speak with me," I tell him as he nods and adjusts his cuffs on his wrists while slipping and showing me a bit of the tattoos imprinted on his right and left arms.
"Precisely. Why were you here at nine on Monday night?" He asks sternly. I just knew I was going to get shit for that. I should have just taken the stairs, but to be honest, my feet were killing me in my heels that night, and I didn't even think about it. "I wanted to finish the file I was working on. I didn't think starting it back in the morning would be better since I usually do numbers in one sitting." I tell him.
"Which is why you've completed five already? In four days." He states as I nod, "I take my job seriously" I tell him as he laughs under his breath. It's more of a deep chuckle, a chuckle of sorts that sends off the tone that he's who I should listen to, but I'm not. "You want to know what I see?" He asks as I shake my head no. Not really.
"Excuse you" he spits out as I take my turn to laugh. "Excuse me, I was told I would never have to speak with you if I did what I was told. I'm doing my job, I don't see why I'm needed here." I tell him staring directly into his perfectly framed face.
"You're trying to fuck my company over." He spits out standing up and leaning across the desk to intimidate me and it fucking works as I shift my legs one over the other.
"Excuse me?" I ask standing up in his face, using my dominance right back and crossing my arms across my ample chest. He wants to get in my face and I sure as hell will get into his.
"You come from a family of money. With a brother that happens to be a lawyer. With a firm big enough to work at and make decent money. You come to my company, demand a starting salary of almost one hundred thousand dollars, and open my case files like it's nothing. You're trying to find something to screw my company over with. Which is why I've called Human Resources and spoken with them about hiring you on the accounting floor. Something that should have never been done in the first place. You can leave." He tells me as I stare in shock.
Fired. He absolutely can not do this.
"Are you fucking serious right now?" I ask before I can control my mouth. Obviously, I've shocked him when he rounds his desk and stands in front of me closing in on my view of the city through his glass windows.
"I don't want anything from your stupid company! I came to work here because I wanted to move to Chicago after graduating college. I applied to multiple places and this just so happened to be the first interview that I got hired at. If you must know I do not speak to my family much, maybe once a month if they're lucky. I moved to the city alone for my own sanity and you have nothing that I want. Absolutely nothing. I demanded my salary because my skill set is worth it and I know that your minimum base pay at entry-level is eighty thousand without internship experience which I bring two years of experience with. You can shove that salary up your ass because I quit." I demand moving out to open the doors to his office.
