the city

Babylon at it's time, was the epitome of human advancement.  The economy was as good as it could get, what with the amount of merchants and traders that came and went to and from the city.  Those who lived outside the city walls would travel inside of them to sell whatever crops they grew, and those inside the city would buy them or trade them for other things.

Druig likes it because there's so little fighting.  He could never really stand war, and he never explicitly said it, but by the way he would always sleep in Makkari or Morgana's bed during them, they could tell that it took a toll on his mind.  Makkari likes the city because it's easy for her nimble fingers to snatch things from passing merchants.  It's also easy for her to trade and gain information on the Emerald tablets, a strange human relic she's been searching for non-stop.

And Morgana likes the city because of the humans and the garden.  The gardens, mostly, if she's being honest.  They had been started by her, a small project to fill time and give her some sort of hobby.  But then the humans had gotten curious, always approaching her in the courtyard of the gardens and asking questions.  The courtyards weren't open all the time- being closed from sunset to sunrise, and whatever other hours she felt like closing it- but when they were, the humans came and went, whether it was to relax or learn more about the plants.  Eventually, she had taken up teaching those humans that visited constantly, and soon enough, the garden became something more than her own.  It began to span the city, and not just the palace-like structure that the Eternals were occupying; hanging off walls of homes and gates, even spanning the walls of the city themselves.

But she also likes the humans.  She had always like watching the humans dance and listen to them play music in other cities they had visited, but she likes it most here.  Babylon is made up of humans that come from all over the globe; Greece, Rome, Egypt... and with them, they bring their culture.  They brings trades and jewelry and clothes and music and food and dances and legends, and they share them with others.  It soon becomes a mix of hundred of cultures, and Morgana enjoys it, even if she doesn't outrightly say so.

On this particular night, it's warm.  And it's warmed even more by the constantly burning pits of fire that ring the plaza.  In the middle is a cleared out space where she watches the humans dance with each other, and to the side of it, a small band of humans with instruments plays some kind of folk music.  Even more outwards are tables laid out, where some humans eat or gamble or trade, and to the outermost walls, are small booths set in the stone.

Morgana sits off to the side, watching the humans dance in a large circle while she herself is sitting amongst a group of small girls.  They all talk rapidly and giggle and point out boys they think are cute, all the while talking to Morgana as they braid her long, black hair.  The girls take turns weaving her hair together in a semi-intricate pattern, inlaying it with flowers they've taken from the hanging gardens.  Out of all the Eternals, she picks up human languages the easiest, and finds them even easier to retain.  So she has no issue in keeping up with what the girls are saying.

The torch light bounces off the walls of the plaza as Morgana's eyes catch onto a booth in the far corner, where she can see Makkari signing to two men while Druig translates.  By her body language, Morgana can tell she's annoyed, and whatever the men say to her only make it worse.

One of the girls starts speaking to her again, asking about her travels and the monsters she's slayed and the things she's seen, and Morgana answers her questions in as much detail as she can.  The braid is done now, and the girls now sit around, taking turns tucking flowers into stands of her hair so they stay put.  Morgana's eyes move back to the corner booth, only to see the two men gone and Druig and Makkari now conversing.
