summary : how nina is with a reader who has joint problems/rheumatoid arthritis/autoimmune diseases.

a/n : this is based on my experiences with rheumatoid arthritis so it may not apply to everyone who has it but you hope you enjoy it nonetheless

• this girl would do anything for your comfort

• she's also never hated herself more for not learning any healer abilities. She had to be a "stupid heartrender"

• you can tell that it upsets her when you have a flare-up and she can't do anything to help

• sometimes she helps relieve fevers or slightly helps redirect inflammation, but she knows it won't heal you

• that you're not going to be miraculously better

• definitely going out and trying to safely develop her powers

• she tries so hard for you :(

• oh she's also on a search for the best healer in ketterdam

• if the doctors can't make everything better, she'll find someone who can

• trying to reason with nina is not fun

• you don't want to get your hopes up because you were told this is permanent, and so you've accepted your fate

• plus kaz is fine mostly, so why wouldn't you be?

• there will always be bad days where you can't write or open things. that's why nina can help, or even another crow

• they all just want to keep you safe and help in whatever way they can

• but nina would be out the door in a heartbeat if you so much as hinted that you wanted something
• an ice pack? got it. another blanket? check. massage? alrighty. an open window cause it's muggy? already done. a kiss? oh absolutely

• she makes sure you drink your water 👿
• nina threatens not to come back until you've finished the pitcher of water she brought you

• most of the time it doesn't have to be entirely gone, but you still have to drink most of it
and lets you sleep in as much as you need

• no, this doesn't go for every single day, but she'll do anything you're as healthy as you can be

• to show her love is saving a bit of her food (yes even waffles) in case you're hungry and can stomach some food

• or she'll be the first to offer to buy you some food

• always touching you when you're comfortable with it

• it can be as small as touching knees together
or like more prominent like having her arm around your shoulders and rubbing her hand against your upper arm

• sometimes you just want to be left alone
which upsets her a tiny bit sometimes, but she knows it isn't personal
• cause sometimes she wants to be left alone and you're not any different
• but she'll come running the second your ready for company and love
• if you have any sort of comfort foods or like to cook to help with any of your issues, nina doesn't help cause she'll burn everything, but she'll taste test everything and give you her honest opinions

• sometimes food can be utter shit, but she still takes at least a few bites to appease you

• muttering "it isn't waffles, but..." for like everything

• once she takes parem and her power is different, she isn't only upset because she feels empty and wrong, but because she's of less help to you

• you barely initiated any of her use of powers on you so it took a little longer to realize something was wrong

• but you were still the first to catch on
as you had so much inflation in your joints and you couldn't stand being touched, but you looked over at nina, and she wouldn't look at you

• because "saints, darling, I can't stand it, I want to help but I'm just not the same"
• "nina you're still the exact same girlfriend who I love endlessly"
• she looked up at you, blinking back tears because she's spent the past few weeks willing to go back to normal so she doesn't have to fear about no longer being worthy enough for not only you but the rest of the crew
• "my body doesn't work right so why should I care if your powers do?"
• of course you were right, most days you couldn't work the same as everyone else but kaz still thought you were a viable member

• sure her powers made her who she was and it would take a while for her to learn to be okay again, but you both had each other
which was more than she could ask for

• she wants you to be comfortable and happy but she'll settle for you being alive and loved
