Little: SanCaregivers: Ateez
No one's POV.:
After a long and cold winter, the seasons were finally changing and as it got warmer outside, someone really wanted to go out. San had been the group's little for a few months already, first slipping around the members during fall. With most days being dark and rainy, the little's energy hadn't been great either. For most of the fall and winter months, taking care of little San had meant quiet evenings cuddled up on the couch, sipping hot chocolate and reading to him. The group also watched multiple Christmas movies together, the little huddled under his favorite blanket, clutching Shiber. Feeling more tired than usual, he usually sat in one of his caregivers' laps and enjoyed them patting his head till he felt sleepy enough to go to bed, so his caregivers assumed his little-side was his quiet-side that balanced out his usual energetic and happy personality. While that was the case during the colder and darker months, San wasn't always that gloomy when he slipped. In fact, he was at least as energetic and excitable as his adult-self but the bad weather had taken a toll on his mood, which was why he was even happier when the seasons changed and the days grew sunnier again.
The group didn't usually take San outside of the dorm when he was little because they were afraid of revealing his secret to the public. That soon got difficult though because the boy so badly wanted to go outside and it made the group sad to always have to tell him no. San started to grow more energetic again when he was little, showing his friends a different side to his headspace than they had seen before. He'd walk up to one of the members, lightly bouncing on his feet and fiddling with his fingers, and when he had said member's attention, he'd ask with the most adorable lisp: "Tan we pway outside pwease? Sannie wanna gwo pawk." - "Ah, sweets, I think it'd be better if we stay inside while you're small, hm? We wouldn't want anyone to find out and say mean things about you, right?", would be the standard reply and San would nod sadly before padding back to his room to cuddle with Shiber. It would hurt the caregivers' hearts but they only wanted to protect him.
On one of those occasions when it was Hongjoong's turn to tell San 'no', Wooyoung followed the teary little to his room. "San-shine? Hey, you okay?", the dancer asked quietly, taking a seat on the edge of San's bed. The little had his face pressed into Shiber, the plushie's soft material soaking up his tears. The only reply Wooyoung got was a quiet hiccup, which broke his heart. His friend was usually a happy spirit even when his energy was low, so seeing him cry was just so wrong. Wooyoung opened his arms for the other and smiled sadly when San abandoned Shiber, crawling into his arms instead. Gently patting the little's head, the dancer hummed: "You're upset about what Hongjoong-hyung said, aren't you?" San lightly nodded against the other's shoulder and gave a soft sniffle, reaching for Shiber again. Wooyoung handed the plushie to him and agreed: "You're right, it's really nice outside but hyung isn't wrong either. We don't want anyone to be mean to you because they can't understand what littlespace is, so it's safer for you in here."
Though San wasn't happy about it, he dropped the topic, knowing his caregivers only wanted what was best for him. They spent the evening watching cartoons with the group as they tried to distract the little and Seonghwa fed his dongsaeng some fried chicken for dinner but no matter how comfortably they ended the day, his friend's crying face still stuck with Wooyoung when he went to bed. The next day, the dancer couldn't handle it anymore and searched for Hongjoong and Seonghwa. He wanted to figure out if there was any way, they could fulfil San's wish and take the little to the park. Maybe if they were really careful and made sure he wouldn't be too obvious, nobody would notice, or they could pretend he was doing aegyo and it was all an act. Though it took quite some convincing from Wooyoung and a lengthy deliberation by the two oldest members, they eventually agreed that they could take little San out to the park on their next day off, if the weather was sunny and the entire group agreed to go, so they'd have someone to draw the attention away from the boy's behavior.
