Little: San
Caregiver: Seonghwa
No one’s POV.:
“EOMMA! EOMMA! It snow!”, San yelled excitedly. It was barely six AM on one of their rare days off, cruelly startling Seonghwa and Mingi awake. Cursing his friend, Mingi rolled over and covered his head with his pillow in an attempt to go back to sleep, while Seonghwa groaned. Rolling out of bed, the eldest left his warm sheets behind with a heavy heart and padded out into the living room to see what his dongsaeng was up to.
San had been a little since shortly after their debut, so when they split up into new dorms, it was clear that he would be living with Seonghwa. The eldest had become his caregiver early on and while the other members too knew about his headspace, Sannie still favored his eomma. Though Mingi occasionally got jealous when the little rejected him in favor of their hyung, he was grateful to be able to stay in bed, knowing Seonghwa would entertain their friend.
Still half asleep, Seonghwa wrapped his arms around San’s waist from behind and yawned: “Why are you up so early, love?” – “Wook! It snow”, the little giggled as he pointed out the window. It was still dark out but the streetlights reflected on the white glittery blanket covering the pavement. “I can see that, Sannie”, Seonghwa chuckled, nuzzling his face into his dongsaeng’s hair, “It’s too early to go out though. Let’s go back to bed, so you’re well rested and have the energy to play later. Come on, eomma needs snuggles.” Some cuddle-time was usually enough to bribe San but this time, the little was too excited to be taken back into bed.
Seeing that there was no winning for him, Seonghwa took San to the kitchen to start preparing breakfast. “What are you hungry for, love?”, the eldest hummed as he went through the kitchen cabinets. He pulled out some soft milk bread and smiled: “You want some mushy bread with cocoa and a banana?” – “Yesh, pwease”, the younger mumbled, bouncing on the balls of his feet. Handing San the bread, Seonghwa instructed: “Put this on the table please and go get your cup for me, will you?”
While San scampered off to his room to grab one of his plastic cups, Seonghwa heated up some milk for San’s cocoa. Maybe Mingi would appreciate a warm drink too once he got up, he figured and prepared a large thermos of hot cocoa for both of his dongsaengs. Usually, San preferred drinks from his sippy cup but when it came to milk bread, he loved to soak it in his drink till it went completely mushy. Sure, the little would be left with sticky fingers and it would take a while to get him washed up but that was exactly what Seonghwa was hoping for. He wanted to buy some time so it’d at least be light out when they went outside.
He had underestimated little Sannie and his enthusiasm though. The younger didn’t let himself be distracted for long, basically inhaling his breakfast in record time. Yeah, the extra speed left him with a little mess on his clothes but being the big boy he is, he insisted he could get changed on his own while Seonghwa got ready, so the two of them wouldn’t lose any time. The caregiver dawdled a bit repeatedly asking San for advice what he should wear, which distracted the little enough to put his t-shirt and sweater on inside-out. Though whining about it, San let his eomma help him fix his clothes. Huffing in frustration, the little tapped his foot while Seonghwa bundled him into a thick coat and put a scarf and mittens on him. San doubted it’d be this cold, his eomma was just wasting time.
It was barely light out when San dragged Seonghwa out into the snow-covered street, giggling happily as he hopped into a pile of snow. “Are you sure, you’re warm enough?”, the eldest frowned, shuddering as he pulled his coat tighter. Nodding enthusiastically, San dashed off around a corner of the building and knocked the snow off of a few branches. Seonghwa shook his head at the boy’s antics and messaged their group chat, inviting whoever else was awake at this ungodly hour to join them. Unsurprisingly, nobody did for another two hours, which San and Seonghwa spent building a snow family.
The sun had eventually risen and Seonghwa took a few pictures of San next to their snow family before considering taking a walk to the town center, where everything would be decorated nicely. Holding out his hand, the eldest hummed: “Should we go look at the decorations, Sannie? Come on, take my hand.” The little clutched Seonghwa’s hand with his mitten and curiously waddled along. San had to admit, he was starting to feel a little chilled but there was no way he’d tell his caregiver that now, not when he had made such a fuss earlier. His mittens were soaked all the way through and he could barely feel his fingers, same were his feet. He could feel the water squelch between his toes with every step he took and really wanted those cuddles Seonghwa had requested earlier but he was a couple hours too late for that.
San was shaking by the time they made it to the town center, suddenly not as excited about the first snow of the season anymore. When Seonghwa turned to him and spotted the pout on the little’s blueish lips, he cooed: “What’s wrong, love? Do you not like the decorations? They’re so pretty though.” – “Wan’ cuddwes”, San mumbled, barely able to keep his teeth from chattering, “Pwease?” – “Oh honey. Are you cold?”, the eldest worried but San shook his head. “Nuh! Buh Sannie wan’ cuddwes now”, the little denied, looking at his caregiver with watering eyes. Seonghwa tugged off his gloves and felt San’s flushed cheeks before taking his hands and realizing his mittens had gotten soaked. Tugging them off San’s pale and trembling hands, he frowned: “Your hands are so cold.”
Afraid his dongsaeng would suffer hypothermia if he hadn’t already, Seonghwa called them a cab for a ride back to their apartment. San still wouldn’t admit to feeling cold but he surely wasn’t as hyped anymore as he had been earlier, only repeating that he wanted cuddles. “You get all the cuddles in a bit, yeah, love? Maybe Mingi is up by now too, so we’ll have a little Sannie sandwich and you’ll be nice and warm in no time”, Seonghwa promised. He could only hope San wouldn’t fall ill due to him being so careless not to notice his little getting soaked.
San sniffled softly as Seonghwa ushered him into the apartment, the warm air suddenly making his nose run. Mingi had just gotten up and called: “Good morning, Sannie. Back already?” – “This cutie caught a chill”, Seonghwa replied as he helped San out of his coat and damp mittens. Ushering the little to the couch, Seonghwa grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around his dongsaeng’s shoulders. Mingi watched his friend shudder and started the kettle. He hadn’t finished the hot cocoa yet and quickly poured some into San’s sippy cup. “Here, Sannie, this should help warm you up from the inside. Careful, so you don’t burn your tongue”, the rapper hummed, handing the sippy to San, “The water will boil soon, so you can fill his hot water bottle. What happened, hyung?” – “Thank you, Mingi. I suppose it all started with the snow. Sannie got a little enthusiastic and ended up soaked”, Seonghwa sighed as he rubbed San’s back through the blanket.
“I only got up a little while ago and my bed might still be warm”, Mingi cooed, watching San clutch his warm sippy cup, “You wanna go cuddle in my bed?” The little nodded pitifully and buried his face against Mingi’s neck when the rapper picked him up. While Mingi got the boy settled under his large comforter, Seonghwa filled the hot water bottle before joining his dongsaengs. Curling up around the hot water bottle, San whined because his caregivers weren’t nearly quick enough to join him but when they did, the little heaved a relieved sigh and snuggled closer to Mingi while Seonghwa spooned him. Soon, San’s hands weren’t cold anymore.
