No one's POV.:

Yeosang had discovered his littlespace at some point during middle school. Being a shy student, the boy had struggled to bond with his classmates and therefore hadn't had many friends. It was easier to interact with his plushies than with other boys his age, the only difference being Wooyoung. The younger was so extroverted, a stark contrast to Yeosang himself. He had pretty much attached himself to the older, deciding they were friends now, and who was Yeosang to complain? Finally, he had found a friend, or a friend had found him. He trusted Wooyoung a lot, he really did but he never found the courage to tell the younger about his headspace, afraid the other found it weird. He couldn't afford losing his only friend, so he kept it to himself.

When they started training in the kpop-industry, Yeosang needed this escape more than ever and at this point, he might have benefitted from letting someone in on his secret but he couldn't. The only member of their soon-to-debut group, that he knew well enough for something like that was Wooyoung but he was afraid of making things awkward between the two of them, so he tried to handle everything by himself. Back when Yeosang had still lived with his parents, he had had his own room, which made it easy to secretly slip into his headspace. Now that he shared a room with his best friend, things were more complicated. He didn't dare to keep and little gear around, his stuffed puppy being one of two exceptions. The other members had plushies too, so he didn't feel too judged about that. The other exception was his pacifier. It was the only way Yeosang could soothe himself while he was little, so he really needed it for emergencies but went to great lengths to ensure nobody would find it. For example, he always carried it on him, no matter where they were, as that was the only way he could actively prevent his members to find it.

He continued that way even after their debut. Sure, he grew closer with the other members but he still didn't dare mention it. Yeosang worried that they might not accept him or think he was weird. If that happened, he wouldn't even ne able to avoid them afterwards, as their schedules and contract would force them to spend time together work-wise and he dreaded it. Sadly, that also meant that the boy rarely got any opportunity to slip, the stress often piling up for weeks before he managed to get himself some privacy to regress. Yet, Yeosang had managed to keep the other members from finding out and that was something he was really proud of, after all it meant that he had the ultimate control over his headspace, right?

Yeosang was indeed good at controlling his headspace but it didn't always work and there were certain things that really challenged his self-control. It always got more difficult the longer he had to go without slipping and certain situations always got to him, like thunderstorms or having to interact with people that he didn't feel comfortable around. Considering that, today had really sucked. Yeosang hadn't been little in weeks, which already left him teetering on the edge. His mind was fuzzy and his head hurt, making it difficult for him to focus on anything. Ateez had had a fansign today and interacting with strangers while he was that out of it, stressed him out badly. Yeosang couldn't have been more grateful when their schedule was finally over and they were dropped off at their dorm. After taking a quick shower to rinse of the stress of the day, Yeosang fell into bed and pulled the blanket over his head. He had had enough for one day. By the time Wooyoung and Jongho joined him, he was already deeply asleep, not noticing the faint rumbling in the distance.

Yeosang woke up to a loud boom, opening his eyes to complete pitch-black darkness. His eyes anxiously darted around the dark room but he couldn't see anything when he heard another loud boom. Tensing up in fear as he also heard heavy rain pattering against their window, Yeosang finally recognized the sound. There was a thunderstorm outside their dorm and it was only a matter of time till the next thunder would boom. Frantically digging through his pillows and blanket, he tried to find his stuffed puppy as he slowly lost his grip on his headspace. Yeosang's breathing picked up speed as he slipped, nuzzling his face into the soft material of his plushie. A muffled sob tore from his throat and before long, tears spilled down his cheeks. He knew his only chance at calming down would be using his pacifier but with how loud the storm was, his roommates could wake up any minute and if they found him with a pacifier between his lips, it'd be curtains.
