33. Truths Out

"Yeah, I will be. Thanks" Aerin replied with a smile but her tone made it seem cold.

Karina and her made a good 10 seconds eye contact when Karina looked away to the guys.

"Hey, I was just wondering if you guys want to get the ice cream we used to get. Should we go after school?" Karina asked with a hopeful look.

"God, I totally forgot that thing existed, " Ni-ki said, not looking away from his phone.

"I got sick of it. I didn't know why I used to like it so much" Jungwon continued writing.

Even though Aerin got taken aback by their remarks, she was secretly happy.

She saw Jake nudging their arms.

"Yeah, sure, we could go," Jake smiled.

'I guess that's how it is..Fine, I told Jaehyun that I won't get in their way, so I won't'

"Anyway, Jake, I think I will go home with Ni-ki and Jungwon after they've ended their practice. I mean, those who aren't going anyway."

"Byee yeorobun!. Guys, see you at home later, and have fun, Karina" Aerin stood up, patted the maknaes head and waved.

"Hey where are you going?" Hanee asked.

"Class, I have work to do," Aerin shouted back.

"Bye noona! See you later!!" Jungwon waved.

Aerin waved back and walked out of the cafeteria.

After she left, the table went awkward and quiet.

"So, I'll see you after practice?" Karina looked at Jake.

The members were side-eying him.

"Y-Yeah, sure.." He stammered.

"Guys, please come along if you want to-"

"Ah, I can't take it here. Hyung, I'm going to class too. I can't focus here. Sorry Karina, I have homework to finish" Sunoo said, standing up.

"Me too. Sorry" Jungwon and Ni-ki followed.

"K-Karina..?" She got upset.

She's the same age as Aerin so of course she was shocked that they called her by her name instead of Noona.

The hyungline, except for Jake, and Hanee just watched the tension. They looked at Jake who was confused too.

Aerin swung the door open. She ignored the bell that rang just a few seconds ago. She needs proper oxygen, needs a break from people. Screw detention. Screw the next lesson.

The next lesson was supposed to be Geography but she hates it so much that she wouldn't mind getting detention for skipping it.

Aerin sat on the space near the railing. She hugged her knees and watched as students from the other class had their PE lessons.

When she took a closer look, as if the universe hates her, it was Jake's class that was having their PE lesson.

They were playing dodgeball. She watched as Karina cling onto Jake's arm. As if it was calling for her, she took out the ring once again.

She looked at the heart shape and then at the both of them.

'What tough luck' she wiped her tears. She stuck out her hand, ready to let go of the paper ring.

She wanted to let it all go. She wanted to let HIM go.

She was about to open her palms when she heard a voice she has been longing for.
