Chapter Ten

A/n*Read chapter Nine first

Hyun unlocked the front door to their large home, entered and slipped off his shoes before closing and locking the door behind him.

Hyun had a hard day too, he as well had to choose his fate. He wasn't sure why the fates called to him in his dreams the night before, or why they showed him what they did. But he made his choice and he wasn't upset about it, he was upset about what'd have to be done.

"Hey son!"

Hyun looked up to see his dad walking towards him, he smiled softly. Hyun adores Hoseok, always had but in his older years the two weren't as close as they used to be.

"Not working today?" Hyun asked as he walked passed Hoseok, heading for the kitchen. He noticed Hoseok in his yellow sweatpants and black hoodie, his normal home attire.

"Um...no I'm not... are you okay?" Hoseok asked as he followed behind him, "Something about you seems...different.." he chuckled

"Oh?" Hyun replied as he opened the fridge, "Yeah...probably because I chose today." He said plainly

"Chose? Chose what?" Hoseok questioned, intrigued by Hyun's choice of words.

"My fate." Hyun said, closing the fridge after grabbing some juice and going towards a cupboard for a cup.

"Your—Your fate? What? But your mother was supposed to tell us when."

Now Hoseok sounded a bit annoyed.

"Yeah? Well...mom doesn't know either." He said as he grabbed a cup and placed it in the counter

"How doesn't she know? Nothing happens up there without her knowing." Hoseok says, growing annoyed with staring at Hyun's back, "and can you turn around and talk to me where I can see your face?"

Hyun sighed before pouring his juice into his cup and turning around to face his father at the island.

"She doesn't know. The fates contacted me all on their own."

"But why?"

Hyun shrugs, he knows exactly why but he was told not to tell.

"Not sure dad. All I know is I don't regret what I chose."

"And what did you choose?"

Hyun felt bad, Hoseok's words were straight, direct, and articulate as if he already knew the answer.

He always knows once you've chosen, you can't renege on that choice. It's forever until the next in line comes.

"I think we both know what I chose dad." Hyun crept out, expecting his father to yell and berate him but Hoseok didn't.

When he realized Hoseok was silent he glanced at him slowly,

"Well...when you were younger I always told you that it'd be your choice and I'd back you up regardless." He chuckled, "I can't say I'm not sad but this wasn't my choice to make...it was yours so...I'm proud of you son."

Hyun was left speechless, this wasn't the response he was expecting at all.

Hoseok walk towards him and pulled him into a tight hug. Hyun couldn't help but melt into it. It had been a long time since he had hugged his father. This moment couldn't get any sweeter.
