Cam stayed back at Shawn's house with the officer while the others to him away. The officer was interrogating her about her experience.
"Why didn't you leave?"
"I grew comfortable with him and plus, I was scared. If I left, what if he caught me? What would've happened? I didn't want to take that risk but I was planning to,"
"What was your plan to get out?"
"Well we went to the grocery store once a week. I thought that I could say I was going to get some cheese across the store and just leave. It seemed simple but I thought it would work. I needed to wait to gain his trust though so I couldn't do it the first few times."
"And after you gained his trust? Why didn't you proceed with the plan?"
"After the first Amber Alert about me came out, he didn't let me go anywhere without him. He didn't trust me at all because he thought I was the one to report myself missing,"
"Were you?"
"No! I think it was my parents. They're super paranoid-"
"In this case, they should be" the officer leaned closer to Cam. "I don't think you understand how bad kidnapping is, Cameron. It-"
"Cam" she corrected her.
"Cam. I don't think you understand. Holding someone captive is wrong. Did you like this experience?"
Cam looked down at her hands. She didn't like Shawn all that much but he was a good guy. Plus people have kidnapping kinks, right? What if someone role-plays it? Should they get arrested for it? Cam didn't think so.
"No, I didn't but-"
"So accept that it's not ok and move on. Go back to your parents and siblings. Go live your life and stop wanting to get into trouble"
Cam's head shot up. "Wanting? You think I wanted to black out? You think I wanted to get drugged? That I wanted to be kidnapped? To have cops interrogating me like I did something wrong? I never wanted this! I went to a party for gods sakes! How would I have known I was drugged?! You're seriously blaming me for this?" Cam stood up from her chair, yelling at the cop.
"You could have stopped it, Cam"
"What the fuck is wrong with you?! It's not my fault that Daniel drugged me! It's his! Interrogate him!""Well boys will be boys" the officer shrugged.
Cam scoffed. "You are a terrible human being! I could have been raped all you could say is boys will be boys?! You deserve to burn in hell!" Cam stormed out of the house and got into Shawn's car. The keys had been thrown on the passengers seat. The officer appeared from the house as Cam started the car and drove off.
She just drove. Far and fast in no particular direction. She just drove until she thought she lost the cop. When she did, Cam drove to a spot that her and her ex girlfriend would go everyday before she died. It was really secluded and private. Nobody knew about it except for those two.
Cam pulled up onto a patch of dirt next to a small forest. She got out and locked the car, walking through the forest. She walked for about 15 minutes before she got to the small space where the 2 girls used to have picnics. She sat down in the middle of the area and looked at the sky. A beautiful blue with no clouds in sight. The sun was off to the side and shone brightly in Cams eyes.
Her vision went dark as she closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep. It had been a long day already and it wasn't even 5.
To be continued...
