After Cam woke up, it was dark out. She didn't have a watch or a way to check time. She left her phone at Shawn's house so that they couldn't track her. She went back to her car and turned on the radio.
"-Police have found her and her kidnappers have been arrested. However, officers say after being talked to about the incident, Cameron ran away and is now on the run. If you have any-"
Great. Another update about her. Why can't people just move on with their lives and forget about her? Of course, they weren't going to stop talking about her until she came back.
"I'll deal with it tomorrow" she thought. "For now, I need to sleep"
She climbed into the back seat and laid in the dark silence, slowly drifting off to sleep.
Cam got to see the sun rise when she woke up. She used to do that so much with her ex, Ellie. Ever since she died, sunrises made Cam happy and sad.
Pushing her feelings aside, she started up the car and drove back to her house, where her parents were being questioned by police. As she walked in, heads turned and her mother shot up from the couch.
"Cam!" She yelled, hugging her daughter. "Oh my god! Are you okay? Did you get hurt? When did he take you? Why? I told you not to go to that party!"
Cam softly pushed her mother off of her. "I'm fine mom. I'm home now"
The police cleared out except one. The officer that talked to Cam the day before.
"You can leave now, too" Cam said.
"I know. But your father is being questioned alone and I cannot leave one of my officers here"
"So... go get him?" Cam raised an eyebrow. The officer walked away and came back with an officer and Cams father. He gave her a hug and calmly said, "I'm glad you're home"
Cam stepped back. "Nothing about how you're glad I'm okay? How I'm not dead? And why do you seem so calm?"
He smiled at her and said, "I knew Shawn would take good care of you"
