"It is done," Lexa, the Commander, said to her people.

Though the grounders didn't get their ideal form of justice, Finn was dead nonetheless.

Finn was dead.

"Let us talk to her," Abby says when we reach the Commanders tent. Clarke had gone inside to await Lexa's next form of action while she spoke to the rest of her people. Meanwhile we had made our way across the small field and up the hill into the grounders camp. Abby and Kane leave us waiting outside while they go in.

I look past Bellamy's tall frame to see Raven collapse next to Finn's body, weeping over him. The pain is too much to bare, my gaze shifts to my feet.

His death was as much my fault as it was Clarke's. But there was no other option.

Commander Lexa stalks her way into the tent followed by her minions. I send a ruthless glower in her direction as she passes.

"Savages," I mutter.

Clarke finally exits after a few moments, her eyes red and puffy, her face blank.

"Bellamy, Elara, you're with me. Monroe, I need you to stay here in case things go sideways."

"Clarke," Bellamy says. "What's going on?"

She looks over at Raven who is knelt beside Finn. "There's a death ritual that the grounders want to preform. Only then can we have peace."

I keep my eyes trained to my shoes, afraid to look at Clarke after giving her the idea to murder the boy she loved.

"Meet back here in ten." She orders, and without further instruction, we do as we're told.

Ember coloured leaves crunch under the soles of our shoes as we march on to Ton DC. The sun has finally risen above the trees sitting high in the sky, offering warmth to the crisp air.

I notice Clarke walking silently by herself and take the opportunity to talk with her. When I approach, her eyes are to the trees as if she's looking at a ghost.

"Clarke," I say, gaining her attention. "How are you holding up?"

She doesn't respond.

"You did the right thing." I try to assure her, though it was painful to admit.

"And I now I get to live with it." She answers.

Bellamy catches up and I only spare him a quick glance as Clarke walks further ahead.

You should have never told Clarke to kill Finn, my thoughts shout. It had to be done, an underling one whispers.

"Hey," Bellamy says.

"Hey."

Bellamy glances back over his shoulder at the convoy of grounders.

"You think this truce is a bad idea?" I ask him.

"I think we need to stop wasting our time with politics and help our friends."
