There are a million and one things to plan for a wedding. I couldn't even count it or tell you where to start to help you make the details. Planning a wedding for a month and planning one year long would definitely make a difference to the event for preparations are the key to marriage.
I wrote about weddings instead of 'marriage' as the title of this story because I knew how vital preparation is. Marriage is a long life battle. Just like a military battle, there should be enough preparation for it. One thing that people often forget and sometimes refuse to do is double-check the relationship, which is vital in preparation. In other words, a wedding is not about the party or the ceremony, but more about the preparations for a lifetime marriage.
You will marry one person for the whole of your life, no return, no turning back. Picking a perfect life partner is impossible, more importantly, it should be done carefully with complete thought, not just because we're in love with that person. Love is blind; it's true. And a blind need a white cane. This white cane should be our family, friends, mentor, or instinct. They are the people and things that will help you find the right person and point out the wrong one.
In my case, it's God who helped me open my eyes.
"Why are you avoiding me?" asked Hendra. He cornered me when I was just about to leave my room as if he had been waiting for me.
"What?"
"Are you avoiding me again? What wrong did I do to you?" He surely demanded an answer.
I slid over him and walked away quickly. "No, I don't!"
"Why are you running away from me?" he chased me.
This was ridiculous. Why would I avoid him? I just left the bar last night and didn't pick up his calls cause I was tired of things.
"You left me at the bar! You vanished while I was waiting for you..."
I stopped walking. "You waited for me? How long?"
"Yes, you went inside and didn't come back. I rang you a hundred times, and you ignored me. I was worried like hell, thinking something bad might happen to you, and you showed up to work like nothing happened. Don't you owe me an apology?" He crossed his hands on his chest.
"How long did you wait?"
He was silent. No way he would wait for me that long. Hendra rolled his eyes and walked.
"Oh no, you were there for hours? Until what time? Why didn't you go home?" I followed him. We passed two meeting rooms before he stopped.
"I'm a gentleman. I couldn't just leave a girl at a tavern after kidnapping her from her party," he looked at me, upset. "I wonder why you kept ignoring and avoiding me, and I need an explanation for that." He looked at me thoroughly as if he was waiting for a serious answer.
"I... I... I... I don't know," I walked again, and he followed me. "I thought you were jealous of Desmond."
"What?"
"I am close to Desmond, you know. I don't like people talking bad things about him, including you..."
"It's a fact!"
I stopped in front of Rowling's meeting room. "See that? You don't wanna listen! He is my supervisor, and I don't like people talking bad things about other people, even though it's a fact. There are so many things we have to do, and we can do more than just gossiping others!" I lectured him. "Desmond never talked bad things about you or other people, and I respect him for that..."
"I just wanna warn you about him. Desmond is not exactly what he said..." Hendra tried to explained but it was like there was not enough word to describe his intention. "Besides, your answer doesn't justify your behavior leaving me at the pub last night," he added.
