Day 83 on Hy-Brasil
JAMIE POV
"Behind ye, man!" Cailean shouted at Jamie, and with his blade in hand, Jamie whipped around with his sword out and felt the blade come into contact with something invisible, and falling to the ground dead was one of the Unseelie fae, finally visible to him. He felt another invisible force throw itself against his back and Jamie stumbled forward. Christ, was this difficult! How could Jamie fight off these bastards when he couldn't even see them?
"How many are there?" Jamie called to Cailean, swiping the air in front of him with his sword in hopes of cutting down at least one or two of the beasties, but he felt nothing - he could hear the bastards, though.
"Too many!" Cailean called back. "We cannae defeat them, Jamie, we have te run!"
"No! I'm no' missin' my wife!" Jamie shouted angrily back at him.
"I think she'd rather have ye alive than dead, dumbass!" Cailean shouted at him angrily. Suddenly, a loud, gruff, female cry sounded in the clearing and both Cailean and Jamie looked towards the source, finding a maddeningly tall woman with fierce red hair holding a shield and a sword. She began to attack the fae, revealing a second figure standing behind her- "GET DOWN!" A large hand - Cailean's - pushed against Jamie's chest and shoved him backwards into the bushes. He hit his head against a tree and for a moment, the world around him went fuzzy, but he could still hear all of the shrieks, cries, shouts, the sounds of blades hitting bodies, and the rest of the chaos as if he were underwater. As his vision began to clear again, he sat up and peered through the bushes, finding a scene that would otherwise look hilarious if it weren't for the knowledge that he couldn't see the Unseelie fae.
There was Cailean, dressed like a Pictish warrior but lacking the blue spirals and patterns that they wore on their skin. He fought with a sword and targe, just like he did at Culloden, only this time, his opponents weren't firing cannons or guns at him, nor were they charging at him with bayonets. Instead - to Jamie, at least - they were invisible, and it looked like Cailean was slicing through the air.
Then there was the tall red-haired woman, who was even taller than Catrìona, and Catrìona was tall . Before this giantess, she was the tallest woman he'd ever seen, but this woman was easily several inches taller than him. Her red hair was braided tightly so as not to fly into her face and she wore something with fur on her shoulders and around her waist over a brown-coloured, tight-fitting tunic - wait, it was a vest of some type. Armour? Whatever it was, it seemed hard, and it had fur on the shoulders and base of it. She also wore a dark pair of breeks that were form-fitting and a pair of furry boots that appeared to be made from some kind of animal. She wore something on her wrists as well - it looked hard, sort of like her chest piece, but they didn't move. Were they attached to her wrists? Christ, that warrior woman was fierce and brutal - was this one of the Valkyries that Catrìona had been with?
Catrìona . He looked to the third figure, red-haired and with her back to Jamie. She was dressed rather similarly to the taller woman, but instead of a sword and targe, she was armed with a bow, and across her shoulder, she wore... tartan . She wore a green Fowlis of Barra tartan - the one Cailean had given her. It was her! His beloved wife was right there in front of him! And Christ, was she fighting like he'd never seen her before! She used the ends of her bow to hit at the invisible wee beasties and when she had a clear shot, loaded her bow and fired. God, she was so... Was it getting a little warm? And were his breeks getting a little tighter? Oh. Yeah, they were getting tighter. He had always thought of Catrìona as very... sexy , as she would call him sometimes, but seeing her like this, wearing those form-fitting clothes that showed every single curve that beautiful goddess of a woman possessed... Suddenly, she turned to face him, her red messy braid, from which her curls kept trying to escape, swinging over her shoulder. Her bow was up and an arrow was cocked, and then she fired. Jamie couldn't help but let out a cry as he leapt out of the way. She fired at him! Why the hell would she shoot an arrow at him ? Granted, he nearly gave her reason to when they first met, but-
