"Still, thanks."

"Actually, I think I could use a nice dinner after work later. How does that sound?"

Sarawat raised his eyebrows a little, half-expecting Tine to refuse his sudden invitation. Even Sarawat was surprised by his own actions. Usually, he prefers to head home right after work, he wasn't really the socialising type. He very much prefers to spend his free time alone to recharge himself. Jokes. Tine laughed at Sarawat's words, he thought Sarawat was just acting to steer Mil away in the washroom just now.

"Deal, I will meet you at the lobby after work then."

"Okay, I will be punctual for our first date. I promise."

"If your date is late tonight, I don't mind replacing him. Who would let a cute guy like you down?"

Tine was scrolling through his social media feed when Mil approached him, again. He took a deep breath, calming the intense turbulence brewing from the pit of his stomach. God damn it, he's more annoying than the mosquitoes that annoy me at night. Tine looked straight into Mil's eyes and let out the most sarcastic smile he could. He looked at his lock screen for the one last time, confirming the time again before speaking.

"Sergeant M..., oh wait, it's 10 past 5. Do I know you except the fact that you spilt coffee on me a few days back?"

Mae Godji couldn't help but overheard their conversation. They were literally standing 2 feet away from her. She tried hard but somehow, failed miserably. She giggled while covering her mouth. Tine was definitely a fresh breath of air in the lab; no one, even those who were more experienced than Tine, would dare to fight back against Sergeant Mil due to his identity and status in the crime lab. Everyone would choose to keep quiet and allow Sergeant Mil to do whatever he wanted to.

"A few dates with me would do the trick."

Mil smiled hopefully, at least Tine was talking to him. Before Tine could throw a harsh comment back into Mil's face, a husky voice interrupted them abruptly. Tine recognised that voice. Internally, he thanked God once again.

"I see, Sergeant Mil is trying to steal my date from me tonight?"

Sarawat came just in time. He was a little late as he was finishing up his closeout report for the previous case. He needed the digital payment trails of the victim from Phuak, and Phuak was finally back from his scheduled break today. Sarawat rolled his eyes as he walked out of the senior investigator's office. Why the f'ck is Sergeant Mil annoying Tine again? He reckoned it was nothing Tine couldn't handle, judging from how Mae Godji was laughing at the counter. Sarawat was pretty sure that Tine made another gutsy move again. The exchange between Tine and Sergeant Mil was starting to spark the curiosity in him, Sarawat wondered what really happened between the two of them before Tine started working in this lab.

"Ai'Wat, you are here!"

The nickname sounded nice and sufficiently intimate, Sarawat didn't mind Tine not calling him 'Sarawat'. In fact, it felt good hearing someone calling him in a special nickname that no one uses. What's more, that someone was Tine. Tine smiled cheekily at Sarawat and hooked his arms around Sarawat's shoulders, pressing his chest against the side of Sarawat's torso. Mil's eyes followed Tine's movements, anger burned in him like a fireplace as he saw how close Tine was with Sarawat. Sarawat had only known Tine for a few days.

"Nong Tine ja, everyone in this lab calls Sarawat an ice-cold prince. Do you really think you would win his heart this quick?"

Mae Godji teased Tine and watched Tine burn in embarrassment. Sarawat turned and looked at Tine, only to realise their proximity, the tip of his nose was practically brushing against Tine's milky cheeks. Hell, Sarawat could even feel Tine's warm breath fanning against his with each breath Tine took. Their lips would brush against one another if any one of them started talking. Tine wasn't expecting Sarawat to look in his direction, his sight was still fixated on Sarawat's nape at the last second, and suddenly, he could see the scar at the edge of Sarawat's Cupid-bowed shape lips the next second. Everything happening in the background faded into white noise. Sarawat pretended to clear his throat, effectively snapping Tine out from trance.
