Why can't she just join us from the start? Those were the thoughts that went through Jay's head at the rash order. She certainly deserved to be part of this discussion, not sealed up in her room.

He sighed at the hypocrisy with which such families treated their daughters.

There were footsteps heard across the marble floor. Jay quickly got up and dusted off his suit, ready to greet his fiancé.

"Jongseong, meet my daughter." Mr Kim presented.

Jay politely bowed to the mentioned woman. When he searched for her online, he had heard the buzz about her having a gorgeous visual. There was no denying it.

"Pleased to meet you Mr and Mrs Park." she greeted them before bowing to the two brothers in front of her. "How about we give these two some space? Get them to know each other while we discuss dates?" Mrs Kim suggested.

The adults nodded at the decision while Jay's spirits were lifted. Talking to her alone was one of the main aims he had. He caught his brother's eye who just nodded in reassurance.

He gestured for the girl to walk in front as he bid the rest of them a small bye.

There was nothing said as the two walked outside. Winter led him to the gardens.

"You have a lovely house." he lied. He found it too futuristic, to be honest, but the gardens were beautiful. "Thank you Mr Park." the woman replied. "Please just call me Jongseong," he offered, dismissing the formalities.

"I'll keep that in mind," she tried. There was silence as the two walked around the fountains of the garden. Jay felt his throat go dry as he attempted to speak. "Were you looking to get married?" Winter asked, breaking the stillness.

Jay let out a sigh of relief at the initiation but tensed up nevertheless. "Not particularly, I just graduated a few weeks ago," he answered honestly. She nodded in response. "How about you?" he returned.

He watched her pause.

"The same situation," she replied eventually. Jay could tell it was her silent way of saying she wasn't given a choice...after all that was his situation.

"Ms Winter I'd like to be honest with you," he started after a few minutes of contemplation. She eyed him warily. "I don't think either of us wanted this arrangement.." he managed to say ultimately.

He waited with bated breath as she took in his words. To his relief, her wary demeanour faded and an expression of solace washed over her face. "Then I suppose I should honestly say that I'm overjoyed to have you confirm that," she responded letting out a happy sigh.

Jay chuckled softly, feeling the heaviness in his chest dissolve.

"But I suppose there's no opposing this," she added on. "I agree, but at least we're both on the same page," he reassured. She smiled. "I'm glad to hear that, Jongseong." she finished.

Jay beamed in appreciation.
