Sunghoon had just experienced the most painful car ride ever.

The tension was suffocating, and his foolish heart wasn't making things any better.

By the time they had reached Gyol's house, Sunghoon had gone from being grateful to be able to take him, to being in pure pain, for now, he still ought to avoid him.

It wasn't something he wanted to do, but he figured that his emotions were way stronger than any adolescent crush by now. One wrong move or word could potentially eradicate his life.

It was for his good, and Gyol's as well. The poor man just wanted a friend, and now this 'friend' had wildly fallen for him. It would be unfair.

He was snapped out of his will as he pulled up near the front step of Gyol's house. It was still raining cats and dogs, and the storm was worse than ever now. The ride home would be a bitch.

However, he had other issues to take care of before stressing about going home. He turned to Gyol for the first time since he had gotten inside the car, only to be welcomed by the man already looking at him.

Sunghoon felt his breath get caught in his throat.

Gyol's hardened expression had vanished into one of concern and worry. It made Sunghoon's stomach do things he didn't even know it was capable of.

"Um well we're here," he mumbled, quickly turning away from him. He heard a sigh next to him. Oh, god no.

"Seriously Sunghoon?" Gyol asked. The man in question swallowed, not knowing what to say. "Well, I..." he faltered. What could someone even say in such a situation?

Gyol I'm madly crushing on you and my gay ass is terrible at feelings?

Though it would be the most straightforward answer, it was also the one that could ruin his life. So Sunghoon rummaged into the back of his brain with great difficulty, trying to think of an explanation.

"Sorry for the whole...ghosting thing," he began. Gyol turned to listen intently, while Sunghoon's hands shook. "I um...got caught up with work, and well family....uh some people were...a bit....um..judgemental of my friendship with you," he lied through his teeth.

This was not even true in the aspect of his parents they had been urging him to approach the man with a deal for his own company.

Unfortunately, even Gyol knew he was lying. He laughed bitterly. "Sunghoon, my parents are close partners with your own, what possible judgement could they make?"

The other man just closed his eyes, knowing there was no way of justifying his actions. His heart seemed to break at the bitter laugh and hard gaze that Gyol had reverted to. It was sore on both ends.

Let's just end it here, it's better for both of us, he thought.

"Look there's no way of justifying what I did, and I'm sorry. I can't give you an explanation, but just let me say ...I consider you a very important person to me, and I treasure your friendship a lot. It's just...I can't explain why I did this. There is a reason, but I can't say it. I'm sorry."

There was silence except for the thundering of the hail outside the car. Gyol didn't say a word, while Sunghoon just waited for his response.

Already heartbroken, he decided to just cut things off. "Su- you should go now before the storm gets worse," he uttered.
