Coulson's POV

"Simmons, my office please." I basically yell as I walk down the hall to my office. I just got a message from an agent I have undercover at HYDRA, the organization that has tried to tear my team apart, they have a job opening. For a scientist.

I don't want to send Simmons there. But all the places I have been looking at have no space for her. The safe houses, new bases, contacts to just give her a roof over her head, no-one. Except HYDRA.

"Sir, did you find something?" Simmons whispers in the doorway of my office.

"Come in and take a seat Jemma." I say motioning to the seat in front of me. She closes the door and takes a seat. I notice the little makeup she has on her face is smudged and her hair is a tad messy. "Is everything okay?" I question.

"Yes sir, never better. Now, why do I have a feeling I am going to go somewhere unpleasant?" She chuckles nervously.

"Simmons, I want to know how you feel about going undercover. Given your abilities." I try to hold back a laugh. Simmons is an amazing scientist, my best. But she can't lie and as she says "...excel(s) at preparation." Two things you don't want in an undercover agent.

"I would have you know director, my abilities have quite improved over the past year. All thanks to you of course." Simmons says with a hint of annoyance.

"Okay, Simmons. Well, there is no easy way to say this. You have to go undercover...at HYDRA." My voice cracks as I tell her the name of the last place she'd ever want to go to.

"Oh, I see." Simmons says dumbfounded. We sit in silence for a minute until I clear my throat.

"I'm going to give you some time to think about it, but if you decide to go you have to leave by the end of the week." I whisper, hoping that she won't hear me.

"I have already made my decision sir, I made it when we first started discussing my absence from S.H.I.E.L.D." Simmons closes her mouth and looks out the window. "I have to go sir, if not for Fitz, for S.H.I.E.L.D."
