This is unedited but hopefully alright, not sure it's as good as it was in my head but hopefully it makes some sense 😂
Read a book with this concept a while ago and now I kinda wanna write it. It's got like a Harry Potter theme cross with the golden compass with quite biblical foundations. You'll see. Anyway I enjoyed writing this one so hope you enjoy reading it :))
The world of Witches and Wizards by its very nature will always be a secret. Purely just to maintain the illusion and to prevent its extortion by those who do not possess it, to the outside world it was a wonder and mystery. But to those who were gifted and could study it, it was the most simple thing in the world.
Declan Donnelly came from a long line of excellent witches and wizards. He went to the most prestigious school of wizardry there was and amongst his teachers he was known as one of the most promising wizards of his generation. Not only did he possess a natural talent but he worked harder than anyone else.
No teenager was without flaws though and Declan's perfect life was made miserable by one humiliating fact.
He couldn't summon his Demon.
This wasn't unheard of in the wizarding community but it was extremely rare. The First major spell of every young witch and wizard was to summon their demon up from the realms of hell to aid with conjuring and defence.
In Decs world, having a Demon was everything and he didn't want anything on this earth more than to have a demon by his side. Most kids prayed for a big demon, powerful with a strong animal spirit. Dec just dreamed of meeting his.
It was tough on the young lad, Highschool was hard enough for any 5ft 6 and a half Geordie without giving the boys another reason to make fun of him.
It was another miserable day of his third year at the Cuthberts School of wizardry, Dec had left his dorm room that morning silently praying that he'd make through the day unscathed. He'd made it through all his classes, had gotten through dinner with only a couple of insulting names thrown in his direction and was hugging his books close to his chest as he hurried back to the safety of his room.
Far too hyper-focused on reaching his destination and watching his back, he didn't see the rodent running out at his feet and tripped over the animal with a feminine Yelp and a whimper when he fell badly on his wrist.
The Young Wizard's Books were scattered and tears were stinging in his eyes as three boys emerged out of the shadows, cackling away on seeing the boy in pain.
The raccoon shifted smoothly back into a human like creature with sharp teeth and bright red eyes, grinning and fist-pumping the leader of their little gang of bullies.
Shooting the boys looks to kill, Dec grabbed his books off the floor and gathered his sheets of paper. It was against school rules to use his magic against another student but even if he did use magic he didn't stand a chance of fighting back without a demon at his side.
"You ready to humiliate yourself again tomorrow Donnelly? Some of us here are going to the defence championships with their demons and you still can't even summon yours. Jesus, that's worse than being muggle."
"Can't you Just leave me alone for once?" Declan whispered brokenly, standing up and wincing at his sore knees.
The Boys chuckled at his tears and the leader jumped up to Decs side, swinging an arm around his shoulders. The smaller boy tried to pull away but the other student was a lot bigger and stronger, "Well why would we do that? This is just a bit of fun mate, to toughen you up. If you stop being such a cry baby maybe you're Demon would actually want you."
