Linstead- Love Me Until The End

Chapter 14

ERIN'S POV

Over the last week we had been searching for any relative to Emma to take over her care but found no one. I have been talking to my friend Bethany over at DHHS and unfortunately Emma's situation would be in home with multiple foster children, and I personally know what that is like. Jay and I talked and thought about the possibility of fostering her ourselves, if Bethany would let us. 

E- "Alright so one more MRI for him and then we'll know if he can be discharged?

W- "Yup, if that looks good then I'll start the paperwork. I'm also waiting to hear from family services before I finalize Emma's."

Emma's bed was now in Jay's room by her request, she had been having nightmares and needed comfort, this seemed to be the answer. Since doing this, we have all developed a bond and she loves playing with Aiden. While Jay went for his scan, we decided to take a nap. The caseworker happen to pop by to see both kids laying on me sleeping, Emma was so comfortable with us. DHHS signed off on a temporary basis, given that Emma get a full trauma desensitization, we pass the house inspection, and set her up in school. 

W- "He's back and is officially the worst patient in the history of the world." 

J- "I am not! I don't see why you're still fussing over me. I want to get out of here."

W- Will rolls his eyes at Erin. "He's all set, I'll get started on the paperwork."

E- "Finally! I'm breaking you out of here babe." I jumped on his bed, grabbed his face and kissed him. "Bethany said we could take Emma home" I whispered in his ear. 

J- "Really?? That's amazing! Emma, sweetheart, can you come over here? Lets let Aiden sleep a little longer. We want to talk to you"

 Em- "Am I in trouble?" 

E- "No way! We actually have some good news. My friend Bethany said you can come home with us, do you still want to live with Jay, Aiden, and I?"

Em- Emma had an instant smile and started nodding her head, "Yes please!"

E- "Good, we would love that. I need to go buy a few things. Can you tell me your favorite color and some favorite toys?"

Em- "Ummm purple! You don't have to buy me bunch of things, I'll play with Aiden."

J- "You deserve a few things of your own Emma, we are here to take care of you. How about Erin picks out some things that remind her of you? We can start there" She nods shyly. 

E- "Emma, the doctors want you to stay with them another week for some therapy, then we are allowed to come pick you up..."

Em- "Is it cause I was bad?"

E- "No honey, no! Nothing like that. That man did a bad thing, not you and it's not your fault. The doctors want to talk with you about how you feel. It's your choice if you want to talk, but it might help?"

Em- "And you'll come get me right when I'm done? You promise?"

Em- They nod, "Ok I'll try..."

They get Emma settled onto the pediatric floor reassuring her everything will be ok and they will visit. Erin brings Jay home, loving having her family home together for the first time in three weeks. Since they had a week to decorate a room for Emma and find her a school, Erin knew she could relax and start on those tasks tomorrow. They had called it an early night, needing a good nights sleep when Erin's phone continuously rang. After three missed calls she started to stir.

E- Hello?

DC- Hi Erin? Sorry to call so late but it's about Emma. I think you should come in...
