I woke up to an empty bed the next morning, the indent of Sergio's huge body still present inches away from me. I reached out a hand to touch his spot before I buried my head into his pillow. His unique manly scent was faint, but it was still there. The sheets were cold as I rubbed my fingers over them, as if he had awoken in the middle of the night, unable to sleep. We had gone to bed in the wee hours of the morning anyway so I wasn't surprised if he was working out or something - he liked to do that first thing in the morning. The idea of sweating so much first thing in the morning baffled me to no extent. I was more of a stuff your face with some delicious breakfast first thing in the morning kind of girl. My eyes went to the clock before they bulged out. Shit. It was noon already. I should probably get up and get ready. Besides, I also had to talk to Sergio about his weird behavior last night now that I was no longer tired and as emotional as last night.

I got up and showered before wearing one of my favorite dresses. I felt like I would need the confidence boost today. I moved towards the stairs as I heard voices coming from downstairs. My brows furrowed in confusion at that since Sergio never called anyone over except for Luca sometimes. The voices grew louder as I descended the stairs, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. Who could it be?

I took cover behind the wall as I pressed my ear to it, trying to hear what was being said. This eavesdropping habit really was going to get me into trouble someday. I could hear an all too familiar voice - Sergio's father's voice - before I heard a high pitch giggle. With my heart in my throat, I walked into the living room as I took in the scene in front of me. Bruno Agosta was present along with his wife who was sitting beside him. Another older man sat beside him, his hand resting lightly on a woman's shoulder - probably his wife. My gaze flitted to the red headed woman who was currently giggling at Bruno's joke, I presumed. She was pretty. Really pretty. The kind of woman that graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, perhaps. I took in her symmetrical face, her shiny red hair and her perfect hourglass figure as compared to my tall but lean figure. I felt the familiar insecurities creep up - the insecurities that I had tried so hard to fight.

My eyes flitted across the room before they landed on Sergio who was standing stiffly beside a tense Luca. Nobody had seen me enter yet. Just as that thought entered my mind, Bruno caught me standing at the entrance as surprise filled his face. That surprise was gone a second later as his eyes strayed to Sergio before coming back to me, an evil glint in them that warned me something bad was about to happen.

"Gianna! Just the woman that I had been waiting for." He exclaimed as he spread his arms wide in front of him.

Everybody's eyes immediately went to me, but mine were stuck on Sergio. At the sound of my name, his body turned towards me as pure panic reflected in his eyes. What the fuck was going on?

"Uh hi." I said as I made my way inside, Sergio's eyes drilling holes into my side.

My gaze went to Luca who had a sad smile on his face, an expression that said I would need all my strength to endure whatever shit was about to happen.
