the nice one who everybody loves with the grumpy and strict one that the students hate and the students wonder?????????how what the fuck
but later (not in school environment maybe by accident) the students (a group of them) see that the strict one isn't really that strict and they love their partner)

"I expect all of your projects to be on my desk by 8AM tomorrow, failing which you'll all be, well, failing," Mr. Holmes looked pointedly at the last few rows of the classroom before sauntering out of class and back to his staff room.
He slammed the door shut behind him as he entered, sighing and leaning against it. Deep breaths. It took all of patience not to flip a table and yell. Teaching year tens chemistry, a challenge he should never have taken up in the first place. They knew exactly how to get on his nerves.
"Entitled brats," he muttered under his breath.
"Oh, wow, didn't hear you come in!" You laughed sarcastically from your seat across the room.
"Are you checking their projects?" He squinted at the papers in your hand.
"Just some class work, actually."
"No wonder you're so calm."
"Oh, I'd love to scream and jump off the building too."
"How was your day?" Sherlock asked you, turning on the coffee machine and looking for a mug.
"Weird. You know that Watson kid, don't you?"
"Rosamund? I know her dad."
"Should've been a substitute in her class but nobody told me. The kids all got in a fight and I was called to the headmaster because I was supposed to be in charge. Me!"
Sherlock winced. "Bet Mycroft was glad to have you around."
"Overjoyed. Your brother told me I was responsible for the fight breaking out!" You shook your head.
"I think I heard this fight. Nearly brought the roof down."
"Did everyone know about this except me?!"
"Well, it's not like you could've stopped it," Sherlock laughed, taking a sip of his coffee before putting on his best Y/N impersonation, "No, stop. I'm telling on all of you!" He pointed around the room meekly.
"Shut up, Sherlock."
He laughed.
"Ohhhh, did you hear about the school trip?"
"Super excited," he rolled his eyes, muttering under his breath dryly. "I can barely contain myself."
"Oh, come on! It'll be fun!"
"I'm sending in my resignation today if I ever have to manage a weekend with those rotten-"
"You'll be spending a weekend with me."
"Wait, what?" Sherlock nearly spat out his coffee, pushing his laptop away from him.
"What?" He asked again, softer this time, brushing off some coffee from his chin.
You giggled. "Didn't you read the whole email?"
"I may have deleted it."
"No way you did!"
"Was I supposed to read the whole thing?!"
He stood up suddenly, moving over to your desk and peeking into your laptop. "What did it say?"
You took a minute to find the email and scrolled down until you found the little table with teachers and places assigned and pointed at the first row.
Sherlock Holmes | (Y/N) (Y/LN) | Science Museum
"A sleepover?" He was so close to your face, you could feel his warm breath against your ear.
"Hmm, a museum sleepover."
"(Y/N)..."
"Oh, you're not backing out now, Holmes!"
"No, I'm not!" He blurted out defensively, "Tell me you'll be there for sure, I can't handle this with any other teacher."
"I'll be there! When have I ever backed out from something we've planned?"
"The science fair?"
"I didn't back out! They felt Jim would be more suitable for that."
"(Y/N), nobody, and I mean nobody is more suitab-" Sherlock began, turning his face towards you, inching closer, his gaze shifting between your eyes and your lips.
A knock. "Mr. Holmes, I'm done with my project. Completed it last night, shall I turn it in?"
Sherlock sighed, but you were sure you could hear him screaming internally. "What time did I tell everyone to submit theirs?"
"Oh hi, Ms (Y/LN)!" The kid waved at you cheerfully, before turning back to Sherlock. "Uhh, 8 o'clock tomorrow, Sir?"
"Then why are you here now?"
"Because I stayed up-"
"Out!"
The student scrambled out, dropping all their papers on the floor before scurrying around to collect them and leaving, probably trembling in fear.
"Like I was saying, nobody matches up to you, (Y/N). You should've seen the science fair, I was-"
Another knock. "Will I get extra credit because I'd done it early though, Sir?"
Sherlock stood up with a grunt, walked over to the door and shut it in the kid's face, muttering an "I don't give extra credit."
You were sure you could hear the kid calling Sherlock something rude right after.
⭐
ok ok ok I'll be adding a part 2 soon, with the school trip (i hope museum sleepovers are a thing in the UK? I saw one on doctor who and I just wrote it into the story lmao)
