Boisterous. High-spirited. Noisy. Loud. These describe the perpetually lively gym where all the teams for the training had gathered.
Nekoma and Fukurodani had just finished their match—with the latter winning the final set.
"Senpai! I tabulated all of the stats so they're easier to read." informed one of the junior members of Nekoma, presenting a notebook with the organized data.
It showed the wins and losses of each school. Fukurodani led with 50 wins and 14 losses; Nekoma followed with 42 wins and 22 losses; and Karasuno placed last, having only 3 wins and 61 losses.
"As we thought, looks like Fukurodani's at the top right now." Yaku
Their attentions were gathered when a whistle blew, marking the end of the match between Karasuno and Ubugawa.
"Looks like Ubugawa and Karasuno finished.."
Everyone stared at the players of Karasuno, whose members had expressions of steel as they prepared for their penalty.
"One round of diving receives!" Daichi yelled, receiving the unified agreements from his fellow teammates.
Kuroo watched them with a smirk, "They have a strange dignity around them when they take their penalties."
Kenma: "Including the last away games, they've done more penalties than any other team."
When Karasuno proceeded, Yaku grew in shock as he saw each member do a diving receive, suddenly astonished and in awe of how these underdogs had improved drastically.
...
"Damn it... We basically kept losing until the end." Hinata complained, slumping on the floor in exhaustion with his other friends.
A moment of silence arose between them, letting the fatigue fade off until Daichi spoke.
"You guys need to keep doing your best and survive." He began, sparking the attention of his companions. "I just happened to hear this, and I was going to keep it quiet..."
Hinata: "Wh-What is it?!"
Daichi had a downcast expression, holding everyone in suspense. "When all of these pracitce matches are over... Apparently, the coaches are going to treat us to a barbecue!"
Everyone looked at him in shock, taken aback by the unexpected revelation.
...
"Akaashi, who do we play next?"
Bokuto sipped at his water jug, boredly wanting to know his next contender.
Akaashi replied, "Karasuno."
His other teammates suddenly reacted in a way that showed their desire to not play against that school.
When questioned about their reactions, "They're sort of.. the hardest to play against."
"Oh, who knows what they're gonna do?"
"Well, it looks like they're getting pretty tired."
All of a sudden, they dreaded to see some of Karasuno's members look energetic, lively chanting about meat and how they'd worship it as if it was their saving grace.
...
"Hey, are you good?"
Kinoshita asked in curiosity, seeing his friend stare at his own palms and repeatedly opening and closing them.
