Keigo's POV
An hour after seeing Takumi at Blue Heart Hospital along with Emiri and Sukai, Keigo takes the earlier bus back home. Unable to get his mind off of what Takumi had said, he couldn't help but wonder what he could've meant.
"He won't lose to me? What could he possibly mean by that?" I whispered to myself as I got on the bus and checked my phone notifications. Expecting a text from either Sukai or Emiri about them having gotten home safely, I was irritated after having not gotten a single message back from either of them. "I wonder why they haven't texted me back yet..." As soon as I got to my tiny apartment, I took off my shoes by the door and placed my trench coat in the closet. But no matter how much I tried to forget what Takumi said at the hospital earlier, I still couldn't shake his words away.
What could he have possibly meant?
Sighing, I flopped my body belly first onto my bed and ended up waking up one of my apartment mates, Kurihara Ryusei, the younger brother of one of my close friends and my other apartment mate Kurihara Ruka. "Oi, Keigo-kun! Can't you see that I'm trying to sleep here?" he mumbled, his eyes still closed shut. Is he sleep talking? I couldn't tell, but as soon as I hit him in the face with a throw pillow, his eyes opened. "The hell?" he screamed as he threw the pillow back at me. "Keigo-kun, at least knock on the door when you get home! Mou!"
"Knock? This is my room, you brat!" I stated, rather annoyed. "So, what are you doing in here?"
"What? You should be used to this by now. Ruka's a total wreck each time he and his girlfriend break up, 'ya know?" Ryusei replied, after releasing a long yawn.
"Yeah, but why drag me into this mess?"
Ryusei simply shrugged in response. "Oh! By the way, how's your friend? The one you said has a broken arm?"
"Takumi's fine. Apparently, he swerved into a tree while riding his bike to meet Emiri. Just something with a cat on the road and him trying to avoid it... Err that's all I can remember," Ryusei nodded as he sat up in my bed, somehow listening intently to what I was saying. "Anyways, I've been waiting for either Sukai or Emiri to message me back but I still haven't heard back from them," Sighing, I rested my back against the wall and simply stared across the room. "You know, Takumi's been acting a bit off lately..." My voice trailed off as I closed my eyes, trying to shake the confusion out of my brain.
"What do you mean by 'off'?" Ryusei seemed awfully curious. He raised his brows, sitting up straight against the wall.
"I don't know, Ryusei... He said he won't lose to me when it comes to Emiri, whatever that means,"
"Owh, I get it! He thinks you're competition!"
"Competition?" I repeated the last word of Ryusei's sentence, utterly confused. Why on earth would Takumi consider me competition? Competition in what exactly?
"Are you really that clueless, Keigo? Can't you tell that you're his rival in love when it comes to Emiri-san?" Ryusei let out a series of giggles, then quickly stopped himself after seeing my reaction. "Mou, don't tell me you really don't know..."
"Don't know what?" I really had no idea what he meant. Rival in love? What the hell?
Junki's POV
Meanwhile, at Blue Heart Hospital, Junki eventually finds Takumi's room and knocks upon the door."Umm- Is it okay to come in?" I said through the door, hoping for a response from either Emiri or Takumi.
"Who is it?" It was Takumi who answered. Slowly, I welcomed myself into his hospital room. "Ah, Junki-kun! Long time no see!" Takumi's eyes widened in shock at the mere sight of me. "What brings you here?"
"Uh..." As my voice trailed off, I thought about the email Emi-chan had sent me concerning her friend with a broken arm. "I came to visit!" I continued, plastering on a fake smile.
"Ah, is that so?" Takumi gave me a mischievous smirk as I took a seat next to his hospital bed. "So you had time to be here outside of JO1's busy schedule? That's quite hard to believe though..."
Oh great! I think Takumi knows that I snuck out of the dorm!
"Uh, well- You see..." Stuttering, I tried my best to gather my thoughts then continued, "I actually came to talk to Emi-chan..."
"Emi-chi?" Takumi mouthed as he scanned the room, his eyes fixated on me at last; he let out a small chuckle. "Do you still like her?"
"Eh?" was all I could say in response. "What do you mean by that?"
"It's exactly what I said! Junki, do you still have feelings for Emi-chi?"
"Feelings?"
"Boi, how clueless are you?!" Here, Takumi let out a series of obnoxious laughs. His once happy face turned serious as he turned to face me once more. "Oh, wait... You can't be serious! You really are oblivious, aren't you?"
"Taku-min, I really don't get you... What am I oblivious about?" Raising a brow, I was awfully confused of what my friend was saying.
"Remember when we were little and you said you'd always protect Emi-chi and keep her safe?" Takumi stated in reply. I nodded. "Or, remember that time you gave her dandelion flowers and said you'd marry her?"
"Taku-min, we were just kids! That means nothing now!" I put myself on the defense. I'm not used to showcasing my emotions- true or false to my friends. I know it's something I can work on, but I don't have enough patience to correct it. "Don't all boys say they're going to marry a close female friend at one point in their lives?"
"Eh? Junki-kun..." Takumi's voice trailed off as he gave me a look of concern. "Just think about it, will you? Just what exactly are you here for?"
I left the hospital with a lot on my mind.
Takumi had a point.
What if I really do like Emiri-chan?
