Subject: Keep In Mind...

Sender: k_taku@mail.com

Emi-chi, are you all right?

You haven't replied back to my last couple of emails.

I've heard from Sukai-kun that you have fallen down the stairs at your apartment a couple of weeks ago and that you're currently recovering here at Blue Heart Hospital.

I hope you'll recover really soon!

I'm only wishing you the best!

- Taku-min 💕

Takumi's POV

I typed up my most recent email to Emiri-chan as I lay there on my hospital bed, typing up the email with my left hand. I never thought breaking one arm would be this hard. Staring at my laptop's screen, I waited for the read notification to make that familiar jingle, but there was no such sound. So, instead, I asked for the nurse to give me something to drink. "Yeah, a strawberry milk would do me some good!" I said into the phone speaker with a little chuckle following right after. "Oh, I can have a snack? Can I get a strawberry and creme sandwich too? You know the one make with shokupan?" The nurse gave me her okay and I waited. With a sigh, I glimpsed over to the right, watching a few new hatchlings fly down to greet me at the window. I smiled and felt like they were reassuring me that everything will turn out all right.

The nurse finally came with my strawberry milk carton as well as my strawberry and creme sandwich. When the nurse finally said goodbye after having had checked my vitals, I slowly heaved myself off of the hospital bed and headed to the elevator that was directly adjacent to my hospital room. I wanted to visit Emiri just before the nurse was to check-in with me again, so I finally decided to take the initiative to find her room. "Okay," I stated as I quickly got on the elevator to the seventh floor. "She should be in room 701... Sukai-kun said that they moved her since last time..." Texting Sukai that I finally made it, I saw the sliding door to Emiri's hospital room was open slightly.

"Emiri... Are you in there?" I whispered to no one but myself. Out of habit, I knocked upon her room's door, only to notice that Emiri was sound asleep. Somehow, Sukai wasn't in the room with her like he had said over text, but our childhood friend Kono Junki was, holding her hand as he fell asleep next to her on a folded chair. "Jun?"

"Mmm..." Junki began, slowly waking up from having fallen asleep. He sat up, rubbed his eyes gingerly with the help of his hands, and offered me some lemon-flavored green tea as a drink. "Taku-min, what are you doing here? Isn't your arm still broken?"

"Well... Yeah, but... The real question is, 'What are you doing here?'" I asked, maybe a bit too rudely. Taking a seat at the nearby window sill, I watched as the sun set in the horizon. "Jun, do you remember the last time we played hide-n-seek with everyone?"

"Yeah, I remember... That was the day Emiri-chan lost all memories of us..." Junki stated in reply. Silently, he glimpsed over at Emiri, a tear escaping from his eye. "She still doesn't seem to remember me much,"

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, pretty much..."

The room suddenly got quiet and as day turned to night, it was time for me to leave. "I better go before the nurse starts frantically looking for me," Junki nodded and we said our goodbyes. Junki told me to take care and to rest up, but the only thing that appeared to bother me was how he was holding Emiri's hand gently in his. "No, Takumi..." I stated, taking the elevator back to the first floor. "It means nothing!"

Yeah, it means nothing...

Junki's POV

I thought back on what Takumi and I had discussed. The day Emiri lost all memories of me, Takumi, and all the rest of our friends. I was the cause. I caused her to lose her memories. If only I hadn't scared her. If only I didn't kiss her. If only it wasn't me who got lost with her. With a sigh, I pulled back the curtains, allowing a sliver of moonlight to escape through the little crack between the curtains. "Emi-chi, I have to go..." I began, checking the time on my watch. It was nearly 12 AM. I didn't know I had spent so much time alone with Emiri. "The guys are probably looking for me right now,"

"Junki..." Emiri whispered, eyes still closed in sleep and her frail arm reaching out to me. "Don't go!" She cried. Hesitantly, I reached for her hand and took my usual seat next to her bed on the folding chair.

"Emi-chi, I really need to go though..." I stated, hoping I would be fine with leaving my friend. "I do really want to stay but I... My group... JO1 is waiting for me back at the hotel..."

Emiri shifted around in her hospital bed, her face facing me. "Huh?" she stated, snapping out of her sleep. "Did I say something weird?"

With a little chuckle, I began, "No, not really..."

"Not really? What do you mean by that?" Emiri asked, a giggle following right after. I wanted to tell her the truth, but a little part of me wanted to keep the memory to myself. The two of us shared another laugh before I packed up my things to catch the bus back to the hotel me and the rest of the JO1 members were staying at.

"So, you're really going, huh?" Helping Emiri sit up in bed, I silently nodded, indicating a yes. "You only have a few days left here before you head over to Seoul for a music show recording. We should do something special! All of us childhood friends! What do you say?"

"As much as I would like to, I really need to practice for a small event me and the rest of JO1 got invited to... I'm sorry, Emi-chi..."

"It's alright. I understand,"

"You do?" I raised a brow, awfully shocked that Emiri understood.

"But can I ask of one thing before you leave?"

"Umm... Sure?"

"Close your eyes! It's a surprise!" I did as I was told and then, right then and there, I felt something gentle brush up against my lips. Opening my eyes, I noticed that Emiri had just kissed me.

So I kissed her back.
