When I wake up, I notice I'm in the room sleeping next to Jace under the covers. I slip through his arms and lean up, and as the blankets come down I notice my bare chest is out. I almost yelled but I covered my mouth as I looked on the floor and saw my dress from last night on the floor and I remembered every detail about it. I got butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. I can't believe I actually done that.. but I also realized we leave the ship in an hour and this place was a mess! And we still hadn't picked up the kids!
"Jace!" I smack his arm
"What? What? I'm awake" he mumbles
"Get up! We leave in one hour!" I throw the pillow in his face, causing him to jolt up
I take a quick shower and quickly get out and changed into leggings and a hoodie. I packed up the kids clothes and toys while Jace put our clothes away. I fixed up the living room a little and looked into our room and noticed the dress was still on the floor.
"I'm gonna take the dress back and I will get the kids on the way back" I say
"Alright" he answers
I take the dress and hold it nicely and walk back to Ella's room. Then I picked up the kids from Jace's parents and took them back to the hotel room. Jace handled check out, as I was still so tired. I was happy when we finally we made it off the boat and were riding back in Jace's truck. We stopped at McDonalds on the way home for the kids. I dragged myself inside and set the kids up at the table to eat while Jace unloaded the bags from the car. I leaned onto the counter and sighed. I was exhausted. I am now realizing what this trip has done for me, I realized me and Jace are back together again and we just shared not one, but two very special moments together in one night. But this trip also made me realize how good we are doing at co-parenting. We are working together and doing what is best for the kids and hanging out with our extended family. I could see this was affecting the kids, but I hope in a good way and I hope changes will come soon. Good changes
"Chlo, you seem so tired. Why don't you go take a nap?" Jace asks walking into the kitchen
"I would love to, but I have to drive home, do laundry, clean the house, help them catch up on missing work, unpack all our bags" I respond
"Ok well, eat something and once you all are done eating and I will drive you all home and I'll help out" he suggests
"Sounds good" I reply walking the fridge to make a bowl of cereal.
When Jace drove us home, I definitely had the urge to just go to my room and sleep but I knew this house would be a rats nest tomorrow.
"Michael & Ava, unpack your clothes and put them into your laundry bins and bring them to the laundry room" I tell them as they run off to their rooms
"What do you need me to do?" Jace asks
"Well, I guess you could help them with homework and I will do laundry and organize the house" I reply
"Sounds like a plan" he answers walking off
Maybe after an hour or two of doing laundry, dishes, and bills I walked into the living room and saw Jace sitting next to Michael with Ava on his lap helping them out with their homework
"Well, if me and you had 8 slices of pizza and I ate 3 slices, how many are left?" Jace asks
"Four!" Ava shouts
"Close" Jace responds
"It's five Ava! Pay attention to class! Dumbo!" Michael shouts
"Michael James! You do not talk to your sister like that! That was mean young man. Say sorry" Jace shouts
"Sorry" Michael pouts
"Say it like you mean it" I but in
"Fine, Ava I'm sorry I called you a dumbo" he says
"Apology accepted" Ava throws back
"So, that was the question you guys had. Good job guys" Jace answers "What's next on the to do list mom?"
"Who wants to learn how to fold laundry!" I shout
"No!!" The kids shout
They gave in, or they were forced to, learn how to fold laundry. Teaching them a little responsibility as they grow. We decided to do a movie marathon, and about 5 pm we ordered Chinese food. I was craving this all week! By 8 pm we had just finished our last movie of the series
"Alright guys, let's get ready for bed. We have school tomorrow" I announce as they just groan and look at me "first one in bed gets pancakes tomorrow!"
As soon as I mentioned pancakes, the two raced upstairs, leaving me and Jace laughing our butts off. I agreed to clean up the food while Jace went to tuck them in. Coming upstairs to my room, I changed into an oversized black shirt with sleep boxers. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth when I felt a presence behind me
"Leaving now, bye bye" Jace says going in for a kiss
"Woah woah woah, it's so late you should just stay the night here" I protest
"Chloe.." Jace says, stern
"When you get home you'll be exhausted and you'll dread work tomorrow! But if you stay here, and just leave in the morning you will have a better day!" I whine
He sighs for a moment, thinking "Alright"
"Yay!" I clap my hands and jump
Laying down in bed, he wrapped his strong arms around my small body. This felt safe, this felt like home. I could get used to this. I already am.
