"Who are you?" I asked while whispering not wanting to alarm my parents and brother. I held out my hand ready to use my powers if necessary.
They were familiar to me.
They had long silky dark purple hair, the reptilian eyes staring back at me, their body was slim, I think they were in their late 30's. Their skin was soft with barely imperfections, they looked like they had wisdom in their eyes.
They crossed her legs, "Elora."
"Leah! This is my best friend Elora," Lily took my small hand and waved at a younger Elora.
Elora transformed into a clone of my mom and changed back to what she looked like now. I laughed at the cool trick she did.
"Isn't she the coolest?" my mom's eyes were wide and if she said she was cool, she was cool to me.
"You were my mom's best friend?" Someone from my parents' past was here right in front of me.
She moved her neck tensely, "She liked to say so."
"Did you not think you were?"
She slid down in the chair, "To an extent. I loved your mom. But I never had what she had with Scarlett or Mia."
"Scarlett and Mia?" My mom and Mia? So did my mom know then? And Mia was the woman who held me as my parents had to leave.
Elora launched herself off of the chair, "Your mom. Not Lily. Scarlett. They were best friends... then again Lily probably never told you about Scarlett because she thought it wouldn't be necessary. Mia was in charge of placing you into a home, where you could grow up normally. I was the one who made you forget."
My mouth dropped open, "You did that?"
"Your parents wanted to give you a second chance... I told them that you wouldn't ever have access to your powers or the memories. I lied..." She played with her long fingernails, she almost looked like she wanted to say more but switched directions. "Leah, do you know how powerful you are?"
Her reptilian eyes met mine. She was being fully serious. "I mean yes, but no."
"You have no idea," she answered. "Lily was the queen of Delorn. Liam was the knight. Did your parents ever tell you about your planet?"
"No." Something I wish I knew.
She hummed, "Your planet years and years ago was destroyed because other aliens were pissy. Your parents got their titles as soon as they heard. Your parents and their siblings and other higher ups got shipped out, being the last Delorians left alive. The knight and queen could never have a child together, too powerful. Until your parents."
"See, your parents loved each other too much. They grew up here on Earth and fell in love. To be honest, gross. I wasn't the hugest fan of Liam, I was partial to Lily. I was there when they got married and I was there the day they faked their deaths. I helped."
"What?"
"What?" she inquired as if I didn't understand what she said.
"They faked their deaths!? And I have other Delorian families!?" I exclaimed, covering my hand over my mouth realizing I said that too loud.
She twisted around and out her mouth over the top of mine. "Yes to both, probably cousins but I don't care about them enough to keep updated. They are in hiding after your parents faked their death."
"Why did they fake their death? How did my mom know... Lily, my actual mom?"
"So many questions... they faked their death around the time they found out they were pregnant with you. They couldn't have anyone know your existence because well people would want to find you and kill you. Same reasons they destroyed your planet. Me and Mia helped stage it and everything, details aren't necessary. People eventually did find out that your parents were alive around the time you were nearing your first birthday. That's why you were not given enough information on a lot of things. They realized you could never be safe with them and did what they did. Still with me?"
