⚠️ DON'T PLAY THE MUSIC YET

it was the last week of lectures before thanksgiving break. long hours in the library were spent by you and Eren, working diligently on your project as it was being carried out just before the end of the first semester. you were confident in your experiment and that fact that both of you had been able to be professional around each other helped ease any nervousness you felt at the beginning of the week.

"so we need to obtain the references and print out the debrief and consent forms we're gonna use." you said while clearing up the work.

"right. i'll get those printed out before the end of the day." Eren agreed.

"great. other than that we're finished. not gonna lie i'm excited for our experiment. it's gonna be great."

"of course it gonna be, it's us." Eren smiled.

you smiled back. you've missed his cocky self more than you'd liked to admit but he didn't need to know that. you picked up your bag and bid your goodbye. "i'll see you later Eren."

"y/n wait." Eren gently held your upper arm in his hand. his grip was naturally strong but it didn't hurt. you looked at his hand, fingers lightly squeezing into the flesh, then up at him. not only was this the first time in a while you'd been in physical contact with Eren, it had also been a while since you'd looked him directly in the eyes. this may have been the saddest you've seen them before, they looked so low-spirited, as if the darkness was taking refuge in his sight.

Eren noticed the way you were looking at him and falsely concluded that touching you had made you uncomfortable, so he removed his hand and apologised. your arm felt the chills of the atmosphere around you, like it was only Eren that could make you feel warm. "i just wanted to ask." he gulped, second guessing himself. "you know what, never mind, see you later." he half-smiled.

"no, say it." you insisted, wondering what he wanted.

"do you have any plans for thanksgiving?" his nervousness was visible as he scratched his had a bit. "it's just, i know your mum's working and my mum cooking a lot this year and she won't mind and." he took another deep breath, "i wouldn't want you to be alone."

"oh?"

he cut you off. "but if you do have plans then forget i asked." digging his hands into his front pockets.

"Eren."

"yes."

"that's sweet of you but i'm going to Levi's."

"okay, that's great." you would hear the disappointment in his voice.

"thanks for offering though."

"no worries. hope you have a good thanksgiving." he forced a smile.

"you too."

you left the library quickly after that. you hadn't asked Levi if you could go to his, in fact you hadn't asked anyone, but you felt the need to say you had because to be honest, you didn't want to seem helpless around Eren. you wanted to push the narrative that you're fine whether Eren is in your life or not. anyways you knew Levi's family wouldn't mind you coming to theirs for thanksgiving, it's not the first time and it definitely wouldn't be the last. however, you texted Levi just to make sure, especially since you needed to start packing. Levi responded quickly and asked how long you were gonna stay and if you needed a ride. you told him you didn't mind if it was just for the day and you would drive yourself but he insisted that if you were gonna stay it would have be to more than just a day.

Levi

you can stay the week y'know.

the week? wouldn't that be too much?
