"Old man you say," he was puzzled.

"Yeah you heard me- old man," I snickered.

I could not pretend anymore, I was beyond exhausted from the fights before. I had told myself this would be the last one for a week. My body was aching and my face felt like fire burning into my skin. If this would be my last fight, then I better make it count. Dad was beginning to put his gear on about this time, so I also suited up. While taking a deep breath, getting ready to fight my own dad, I said a prayer to myself hoping it would be over soon.

"are you ready?" he asked entering the boxing ring.

"i'm as ready as i'll ever be," I nervously replied.

"you really proved yourself today. If you or when you defeat me, only then you'll be ready," he exclaimed.

"be ready for what?" as i questioned his statement.

He hit me in the right side of my face, making me stumble all over. That was the hardest I was ever hit.

"for that! never let your guard down," dad spike after I got my balance back.

My dad never spanked me as a child. Thinking back now, I couldn't remember a time when he did. He just did not believe in spanking his children. Maybe that was another thing my parents fought over, I thought to myself.

I broke out of my gaze and focused on what was happening right in front of my face. I pulled myself together, and focused on what I needed to do next. I blocked my face when he tried hitting me again. This time I blocked him catching him off guard. Moving over a little to the left, I hit him with a right.

"good shot," he tried to fist bumped me.

The split second before I hit his glove, I snuck him with a right, again. He was definitely surprised, and hit me back even harder than the first. Falling to the ground and he pounced on me. He began hitting me in the right side of my face. Every punch hit me and he did not miss. Every single time he hit me it stung even more. I tried blocking him, but he found a way around it.

It began to feel like bricks smacking my face, and then it began to feel numb. I was losing hope and blood fast. He laid into me and didn't hold back. My eyes closed shut wishing it would be over soon. But I had to fight back. I have to show him!

Waiting for the perfect moment, I slung him off of me gaining my strength back. I rolled over on top of him, and my blood began dripping on him, but I did not care. I just let him have it, hitting with a right, a left, and another right. Each punch collided with his face. Blood was splattering everywhere. I could not stop myself, a left, a right. And then I blacked out. I could hear voices but none I could pick up on. Is he alive? Did I kill my dad? Or am I dead?

These thoughts ran through my head, getting worse as time went on. My face was on fire and my eyes were melted shut. My body felt as if it was floating above the clouds, I could see the light. The voices grew louder as the light got brighter. What is happening to me? And then everything went blank. My body has feel into a deep sleep.

There it was again, the voices. It was not anyone I recognized. A new voice. My eyes cracked open for a second, and I saw two men picking up my dad off the floor. My strength was very weak and I could not hold them open any longer. Everything went dark again.

"oh my gosh! You killed her!" was the last thing I heard before the lights went out.
