Being back home has taught me a lot of things, such as, being grateful for what you have and don't have. Although Ethan is gone, I still have some great family members. Ethan will never be forgotten. Ever since he passed away, everyone has been grey inside and out. Their isn't joy or laughter here anymore, everyone is dull. With Ethan being gone, it makes me realize how important life in general is and the people around you. Simply because, life is short and you should not take any moment for granted.

I wake up to the sunlight beaming between the curtains, and onto my eyes. Then I jolt awake, by a loud door slamming shut. Quickly, I jump up and rush down stairs, not caring I'm still in pajamas. I almost fall down the stairs, as my pants were falling off me and began tucking under my feet. I reach the end of the stairs and fix my pants, so maybe I can make it to the front door this time.

"You can't do this!! You cannot go! After all what's been happening? Your just gonna leave us, again?" Mom shouted, as tears dropped off her face.

"Honey, this is harder on me that you! Let me go do what I need to do! I will be back," dad saw me out the corner of his eye. He took a deep breath and sighed.

"I'm sorry baby, did we wake you?" Dad asked me.

"No it's fine, but where are you going? What's going on?" I replied, hoping dad wasn't leaving, not right now. We all needed him.

"Sweetie, your dad has some work business meetings- uh. Some meetings he has to attend but it takes a week for him to complete it. And I don't want your dad leaving for such a long period of time. But don't worry, your going to stay here, right honey?" She looked at dad, waiting for his reply. Hoping with me there, would help dad to realize he does not need to leave.

"Look you know I can't do that! This mission- This Meeting is very important and we could use the money dear," dad was almost begging mom to let him go.

"Your meeting isn't that important, when your daughter was in the hospital and your nephew died! How am I suppose to handle this if something happens to you?" She was begging him not to go. She was pleading with all her might. This was definitely not some normal meeting going on.

"I will call you when I arrive, I will be back in a week," he kissed mom and I, and left without another word. We did not say a word, you could hear a pen drop, in our now empty house. Mom wiped her face, grabbed me, wrapped her arms around me. But this time, this hug was much different from the rest. Mom had a pale white face, and a worried look on her face. Something was going on, especially dad leaving like he did.

"Sweetie their is something I need to tell you," she placed her arms on my shoulders and made me face her, so she knew I was paying attention. My heart sunk.

"What is it mom? Is it about dad?" I questioned, now giving her my full attention.

She took a deep breath and said, "your dad isn't going to a business meeting."

"What do you mean, where is he going?" I started to get an uneasy feeling.

"He is not a business man, he is owner of a huge company. The men that you saw with the red lasers, that was your dad's men. They weren't aiming for any of you. They were aiming for the men that was holding you, since the island was so far away, the men thought it was your crazy uncle." She paused. "The real reason your father and I had to get a divorce, is because he was always leaving me for weeks or even months at a time, with you two. Baby, your mother was tired with twins and keeping up the house chores," mom stopped talking.

"Just spit it out mom, what is it?" Bailey cried, behind me. Revealing, she was listening the whole time. She looked down, feeling bad for shouting and eves dropping.

"Bailey!" I screamed.

"It's okay Halley, it is time I told you and your sister everything. Follow me!" She exclaimed leading us into the living room. She patted on the sofa for us to sit next to her, so we sat on each side. We were ready for the truth, that we were waiting for all along.

"Before you two were thought of, your father and I use to run a multi-millionaire business. He was the owner and I was part owner. We were such an amazing team. Until one night, we had a special mission to attend, so we went. But things did not go according to plan and I was shot in the shoulder, close to my heart. The bullet hole was three inches away from my heart, they knew exactly where to shoot. Your father terrified of losing me, he told me to take time off, so I did. But then the best thing happened, we were told we was going to have twins. I had never seen him so happy, other than the day y'all was born. So after we had you two, your dad stepped up a lot more. He would leave us, for months, while he was out there attending missions. Your father made me feel useless, and he was never around any more. So I filed for a divorce, and he signed the papers. We agreed to raise each of you up and if we were willing to repair our relationship, we would try again, after your father finished all his missions. Your uncle was trying to steal your fathers company, by kidnapping his precious possessions. That was the main reason he was put behind bars, other than the kidnapping and holding his own sons hostage for years. So now you see, their was no money issue, just your father neglected me and never had time for either of us. But he always made sure we were taken care of. The Phoenix Pirates is the name of your fathers gang—."

"Our dad is the leader of a gang!"         Bailey and I, shouted at the same time, with our mouths wide open. We were definitely not expecting any of this. Our dad the leader of a gang, now this was something new.
