I saw you on a Sunday in a café
And all you did was look my way
And my heart started to race
And my hands started to shake, yeah
I heard you asked about me through a friend
My adrenaline kicked in
'Cause I've been askin' 'bout you too
And now we're out here in this room

I get a little bit nervous around you
Get a little bit stressed out when I think about you
Get a little excited
Baby, when I think about you, yeah
Talk a little too much around you
Get a little self-conscious
When I think about you
Get a little excited
Baby, when I think about you
Yeah, when I think about you, babe

(Nervous by Shawn Mendes)

Kimmon sat in one of the corner booths of the Juliana. The place is expensive and elegant than Café de Vibe. But it worked for Kimmon's advantage. School children seldom dined hear. They preferred Kimmon's café or the MacDonald's in front of the school. So there's less chance of getting recognized by someone from the school.

He saw Copter enter the café with Pete and Nam, two of his best friends. He released a breath he'd been holding. He was getting anxious that Copter would be coming here alone. He probably never went to places like this unless with his parents.

Kimmon lifted his hand to get their attention.

When Copter noticed Kimmon, his face lit up into a huge smile. He nodded his okay at his friends, they patted Copter's back and left. So his friends were only escorting him here. Kimmon's heart skipped another beat.

They will be all alone in this booth, literally.

"Hi!" Kimmon greeted, his voice a little winded for no apparent reason. Just seeing Copter face to face did things to his heart and it made him breathless.

"Hi." Copter replied, his voice too was a little higher than usually, face tinted pink.

He's nervous too.

"Are you upset that I planned this without telling you?" Copter played with the cuff of his shirt sleeve. Kimmon's eyes tracked the moment. The boy had changed into a lose jeans and a long sleeved shirt. Thankfully, he looked a little older than when he was in his school uniform.

"I'm not." Kimmon laughed. "I'm glad that you got more guts than me." They both chuckled.

"It's your birthday." Copter gave a bashful look. "I had to see you." He looked so attractive with those rosy cheeks.

"You look beautiful today." Kimmon blurted out. "I mean.... you're beautiful everyday... but..." He bit his tongue and looked down at the table. He didn't feel 23 at all. He felt like he too is 17, just like Copter, going on his first ever date. In his defense, this indeed is his very first date with anyone.

The moment was interrupted by the server.

They both agreed on one large sea food pizza and iced cold soda.

When the server left, Copter took a black square box wrapped in silver paper and slid it towards Kimmon.

"Happy 23rd birthday, P'Kim." Copter wished again.

"Thank you, nong." Kimmon tilted his head and smiled softly. He can't remember ever receiving a birthday present, even when he was a child. He never celebrated the date and he almost forgot today if it wasn't for Copter.

It got him emotional.

Still holding Copter's eyes he took the box.

"Open it." The cute, dimpled boy urged, gently.

Turning his gaze away from Copter, the birthday boy finally looked at the gift.

Copter watched the older man, as he peeled off the wrapping paper with long elegant fingers.

Copter blushed. He had a thing for the man's long fingers, he discreetly watches him work at the café, whenever he was there. Now he can see all of Kimmon without being discreet. The thought made his blush turn into a full body flush.

"Whoaa..." Kimmon exclaimed turning the watch Copter gifted him in his hand. "This looks so fine, Copter." He lifted his eyes up at Copter, big and innocent. He can't believe that this man turned 23 today. He looks so young when he's caught off guard – like this morning when Copter rushed to him and talked to him at the school entrance.

"Do you like it?" Copter's smile widened. Kimmon nodded happily.

"I like it." He slipped it in his left hand and tightened the clasp around the wrist. "I will treasure this forever." He murmured.

Copter went through lots of trouble to buy that watch, behind his parents' back, with the help of his friends. He could have ordered anything with his credit card via online but he didn't want to leave a trace.

"Thank you, nong Copter." Kimmon beamed and the younger boy's heart flew. He loved how earnest Kimmon sounded. This is the first birthday gift I have received." He ran his fingertips over the silver, Rolex watch.

"This year?" Copter tilted his head.

"Ever." Kimmon smiled and leaned forward. "You are the first person I have ever received a birthday gift from."

Copter knew that Kimmon didn't have a happy childhood. Things must have been difficult for him back then without his mother. Kimmon never said anything and Copter never asked. Maybe one day he would open up. Even if he didn't, Copter wouldn't mind.

"I have a little something for you, too." Kimmon sounded shy, almost. He took a flat square box from his pocket and handed it to Copter.

It was a simple silver bracelet that can be attached multiple charms to it - a charm bracelet.

Copter had seen in movies and read in books about those. He never thought he would get one.

"And this is the first charm to mark this day...." Kimmon extended his hand and opened it palm up. Inside his palm lay a tiny silver heart with two glistening stones.

"Wow..." Copter whispered. He's amazed with what he had seen. Not that he didn't have jewelry. Too many, as a matter of fact. But what Kimmon had given him was unique. The bracelet would be the reminder of each milestone of their life together - from the first date to eternity.

"May I?" Kimmon reached for Copter's hand, took the bracelet and linked it around the slim wrist. Then he attached the heart shaped charm to the bracelet. Kimmon carefully placed the hand on the table and let go.

"Thank you, P'Kim." Copter examined his wrist with unconcealed happiness.

"You are adorable, nong." Kimmon smiled, reached out to touch Copter's head but stopped. The boy knew that the older man is afraid to touch him, yet. So he grabbed Kimmon's wrist and placed it over his head.

"You can touch me." Copter smiled. "It's okay."

Kimmon patted Copter's head several times. When he noticed the server coming their way with food he quickly withdrew.

"Our food is here." He smiled, bowing his head to hide his own blush.
