"Delilah

"Delilah..." a voice was heard downstairs. Delilah was with Andy on the roof. They'd been hanging out more and more. She was a nice escape from his family and he was a nice escape from reality. She had heard John's voice calling for her but she wanted a couple more minutes to be normal. Have normal conversations with someone raised normally.

She could sense John's disdain though and knew she had to go. She started getting up and Andy turned to her quickly.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"John needs me." She answered vaguely. She started walking off. Andy rushed after her.
"We can hang out later right?" He put his hand on her arm. She looked down where the auroras came to life. Her eyes widened slightly and pulled away.
"Yeah, my family needs me though so I gotta go."
"I get it. See you later."

She walked away from him quickly. Her heart was racing. Her breathing is shaky. She knew what she saw and she knew what it meant. She quickly regained composure as John called for her again. She teleported in front of him.
"Sorry, I was busy." John rolled his eyes as her vague excuse. He knew where she was.
"So, what, we just forget about Lorna cause she's behind bars?" Marcos claimed.
"We're not forgetting anyone." Delilah shook her head.
"You know that's not what I'm saying." John said.
"Well, God knows what she's going through in there." Marcos fought.
"You're talking about breaking into a jail. 20-foot walls. With guards. With guns." John emphasized.
"We have a way past all of it: Clarice. You saw what she can do. I saw her tearing through the fabric of space."
"She almost destroyed half the building. She almost died." John denied.
"She's fine now." Marcos scoffed.
"In your expert medical opinion." John rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, well, she's better than she was." Marcos sassed.
"Even if she is, she's nowhere near ready to take on what you're proposing." John argued.
"Then train her. Just like you trained most of the people in this room. Hell, you trained Delilah, the untamable." Marcos pointed to Delilah who shrugged.
"I was emotionally motivated." She said.
"You train her." John told Marcos.
"Johnny, Clarice did get herself out of jail. I mean, maybe she can do this." Sonya added
"So you're on his side." John sighed.
"No. I'm on Lorna's side. She's my friend. All right."
"W-Wait. We still live in a country of laws. H-Have we tried calling a lawyer? Some members of Congress are sympathetic to mutants." Caitlin tried informing.
"Who invited her?" Delilah asked John. John nudged her.
"You're really overestimating..." John turned Caitlin down.
"Why not try? We can assault a building, but we can't talk to a person? You said you wanted to fight." Caitlin continued.
"I could fight you right now Lady." Delilah mumbled.
"I do." The boys nodded.
"But there are ways to fight that don't involve battles. I have connections. I can reach out." Caitlin suggested.
"We can't have contact with the outside world while you're staying here. Sentinel Services will be looking for you. We can't risk the exposure." John denied.
"Even if it could help?"
"Much better odds they turn on us." Marcos agreed with John.
"I'm sorry, Caitlin. No, it's too dangerous." John turned down her suggestion. Delilah scoffed.
"I think you're being too soft on her." John looked at her.
"She hasn't been a part of this as long as we have." Delilah turned to Caitlin.
"Because she didn't care! She used to agree with them! Used to fear us before you even caught a glance, used to turn away at every injustice involving us! You think your husband wasn't biased when prosecuting mutants? I don't like her here. The kids can stay, but fuck the human." She glared at Caitlin who only looked to the ground, knowing she couldn't deny what Delilah was saying. John walked to Delilah and laid a hand on her shoulder.
"Caitlin saved Clarice's life."
"How many lives did she and her husband end? How many of our lives will it take for us to see we're not the problem? The human wouldn't be here without her children being involved. If they weren't, you think she'd even glance at us being beaten into the concrete? Because she wouldn't. I won't let her fool me. You may be charged as one of us, but you will never experience the pain of being one of us." Her body started heating up. John knew she was serious about hating Caitlin. Most humans hate mutants without even knowing one. Now mutants started hating humans without giving them a chance. With what Delilah had been through, John really couldn't blame her.
