Chapter Five

Elli knelt down next to Loki and immediately noticed the cut on his arm. Loki winced in pain as Elli studied him.

"Here let me help." Elli said putting her hand close to his arm.

"No!" Loki shouted.

Elli gasped as Loki quickly stood up from the wreck and backed away from her.

"Loki, you're injured. I have to help you." Elli told him.

"Don't. Please. Don't come any closer." Loki panted.

"I just want to help you." Elli explained as she walked over to him.

"Just take me to the healers. I don't want you touching me, Elli. Please." Loki pleaded with her.

"Alright. I'll respect your wishes. Take my handkerchief." Elli told him.

She handed him the napkin and Loki placed it over his arm on the cut. As they made their way to the healers, the napkin was almost completely soaked.

"Loki, has this ever happened before?" Elli asked.

"Many times. But, I've gotten used to it." Loki replied.

"No, that's not right, Loki. I..." Elli trailed off as her voice broke.

Loki quickly topped and turned to look at Elli as she began to cry.

"I don't want to marry a man like him." Elli cried.

Loki felt helpless as he watched Elli cry.

"Elli, I'm sorry you have to marry my brother. I truly am. I wish there was something I could do to make you happy." Loki told her.

"Really?" Elli asked as she sniffled.

"I would do anything for you to be happy. A woman like you deserves it. And you have a kind soul. One that I've never encountered before." Loki replied.

Elli giggled softly as she blushed and wiped her eyes.

"Thank you, Loki. That means a lot to me." Elli smiled.

Loki smiled back and they continued on their way to the healing room.

"What has happened?" The healer asked.

"He and his-"

"Clumsy me, I tripped and fell cutting my arm in the process. Just need some ointment and a bandage. Nothing more." Loki replied, cutting off Elli.

It hurt Elli to see him lie about what happened, knowing that he must have done this regularly as a child. She wanted to help Loki but knew it would take a while until he was able to get comfortable with her. His arm was quickly fixed and met Elli outside.
