After the conclusion of the two-day long game of Monokupoly, the Funhouse quickly became quiet. No-one wanted to play with Ibuki anymore, no-one wanted to start a new game of Monokupoly, and even Hiyoko refused to sit on the swing and, instead, she went to her room after lunch. Just like the rest of the class. Dinner was very much uneventful, and everyone went to bed dissatisfied. Gundham had a dream that he was running in a hamster wheel, on all fours, and that the Dark Queen opened up the cage and put her gentle hand on the straw bottom. Gundham gingerly stepped into the Dark Queen's hand, but she didn't lift him out of the cage like he was hoping she would. He woke up as he went to sleep: dissatisfied. Perhaps this dream was a sign from causality, there were no accidents, after all, and he decided that it was up to him to change their situation. That was why he planned to speak to the Dark Queen after breakfast and Nekomaru t'ai chi, so they could come up with a plan together. He was already unstoppable on his own, but he liked to involve the Dark Queen, too. If they were going to promise their souls to one another, he might as well let her have a say in his plans of global domination. During breakfast, the eyes of everyone in the class were turned downwards, to the food or to the table, some even refused to finish their meals. Their faces were dark, sunken, there seemed to be long bags under their eyes and the corners of their mouth had sunk to the bottom of their faces. They were pale, lifeless, like moving dolls, like starving animals, given up on life, like a depressed rat that was refusing to eat. The class slumped over to the tower in the middle of the Funhouse to do Nekomaru t'ai chi, but even Nekomaru seemed dissatisfied with their location. His voice was hollow, weak, uneventful, bored as he mumbled commands. He never even corrected anyone on their stance. How pitiful. Even though the walls around them were bright red and green, their world had become grey.
After Nekomaru t'ai chi, Gundham invited the Dark Queen, Princess Sonia Nevermind of Novoselic, over to his room, and they sat down on his bed together. Sonia's face had collected the same look of despair as the rest of the class, and it pained Gundham to see her that way. That the Dark Queen herself could be affected by the in-excitement of the Funhouse showed just how serious the situation was. ''My Dark Queen,'' he started, ''We must do something about this.''
She looked up, her beautiful blue eyes almost lidded, there was no change in her expression. ''Do what? There is nothing we can do. Usami has us locked up here. There is no way for us to leave.''
''We must show that cursed rabbit how evil we can be, my Dark Queen. We must prove to her that, whether or not we're in a cage, we're the troublemakers from Hell!''
She shook her head. ''That will not solve anything. It will merely give Usami more reason to keep us locked in here.''
''Then what do you suppose we do, my Dark Queen?''
''Wait. We must prove to Usami that we can be good, and then she will let us out.''
Gundham stood up. Sonia didn't react to his sudden energy. ''So you wish to sit here and rot?!''
''She will let us out. I trust Usami. We will not stay here forever.''
Gundham scoffed. ''You fool! You say that you keep animals in cages to protect them from the dangers of the outside world, but have you ever began to consider that the animals might not be happy in that cage to begin with?! What is the point of living if you merely sit there and rot?! If I had to choose between living one day in freedom or living an eternity in a cage, I would choose freedom!''
''I would not,'' Sonia mumbled, ''I would be afraid to die.''
''Is that what intelligence has done to you humans? Did it gift you the fear of death? Such is your arrogance, you feel so needy to comprehend the world around you, while it is merely simple. Death is no more than an extension of life, you give away your body to the next organism to use it. But you, my Dark Queen, and I, all of us, it is our turn to use our body and live with it in the way we want to! And we must live! We must! It is our duty, the debt we pay to nature for allowing us this body, this life! To live is to struggle, and to struggle is to live! So, struggle! Don't let the boredom eat you alive! Fight back! Fight back against Usami, against the Funhouse, and if you don't agree with my plan, at least fight back against me!''
