Nagito had said that he preferred his therapy sessions in the morning, right after breakfast, so that was the time that Usami turned her monitors off and sat down in her quiet house to wait for Nagito to arrive. She considered herself lucky that Nagito was a morning person: the students were still groggy and sleepy during the mornings, so they were much less likely to get up to mischief than they were during the evenings. A polite knock on the door alerted the bunny teacher and with a wave of her fingerless hand, the front door to her cutesy house opened. Nagito stepped inside. ''Why do we have to do the therapy sessions here of all places? This interior design is disgusting.''
Usami huffed. She'd designed this house herself, and she thought the pastel pink mixed with the cherry pink and the hearts looked absolutely adorable. ''Because this is the only place where we can have true privacy. Students are only allowed to enter when they've received permission from me. Besides, the walls are soundproofed and we've got one-way mirrors in here.''
''It was a rhetorical question.'' The Ultimate Lucky student sat down in the salmon chair across from his teacher.
''So,'' Usami asked, ''How are you doing?''
''I'm feeling less worthless than usual,'' Nagito smiled a little bit.
''That's good. That's good.''
''It's probably because I figured out that Hajime was the one who wrote the dirty fanfic yesterday.''
Usami began to get a little sweaty. She was hoping she could just forget that Hajime, Hajime, the normal, average, run-of-the-mill Hajime could write something so disrespectful. And towards his own girlfriend, as well.
''Also, I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the first time in my life today.''
Usami smiled. ''You did? Aren't they delicious?''
A sly smile appeared on Nagito's face. ''I never had one, because I'm severely allergic to peanuts. I thought I'd eat one, since I knew you'd be there to save me if I did, and I wanted to see how much reality has been bent on Jabberwock Island. I should've died, or at least come very close to death today, but I didn't. How come?''
Usami started sweating profusely. If she had a heart, it'd be beating painfully in her chest right now. He couldn't know yet. It was too soon for the students to know. She couldn't outright tell him. Was this too obvious? Should she lie to him? She'd been lying to the students the entire time, hadn't she? So why would it be different now? This was the most sensitive part of the operation, she couldn't mess it up, not for the life of her. ''W- We're a school run by the most elite people in the world,'' Usami stuttered, ''Wouldn't y- you believe it if... if we synthesised a special p- peanut butter that won't trigger an allergic reaction?''
Nagito clicked his tongue and shook his head. ''You seem awfully nervous there, Usami. You haven't got something to hide from us, have you?''
''N- no!'' Usami chuckled, ''You're my students, why would I hide anything from you?''
Nagito shrugged and stood up from his chair. ''Every lie will be exposed. I'll make sure of that. Same time tomorrow?''
Usami didn't answer as her student shut the door behind him.
Hajime was sitting on the beach and watching the waves. He'd been sitting there for quite a while, Usami thought it was the same spot Chiaki and him kissed at. Some of the other screens in her room made noise when the students were talking about this or that, but Hajime's was deathly quiet. At a certain moment, Chiaki walked up to Hajime. She sat down next to him. ''I'm... sorry,'' the boy muttered.
''About what?''
''About what I wrote about you. I shouldn't have done it. I'm sorry.''
They both sat in silence. The movement of the waves was like static between the voices of the other students. Or it was the other way around: the voices of the other students were like static to the waves.
