"We raised her well, Calvin. She would never ever break the rules." I heard my mother say as I quietly walked through our red wooden from door with a bigger letter 'A' on it. I decided it wasn't the best idea to walk in saying, I'm home! So I stood outside the door and listened to their conversation.

"She may be smart and wise, but she is very adventurous around that, Clementine girl. Have we even met her?" My father in formed her. "No." My mother said turning on the sink to start the dishes."But I trust that Gale, talks to nice people, who follow the rules." She put emphasis on the words 'who follow the rules.' I felt sort of betrayed. Here they were my own parents gossiping about who I hang out with. "Florence," my father sighed."I'm just worried she may do stupid things she's 16 she'll start to feel rebellious and cross the border for all we know." He Informed her.

I slowly walked away. Not wanting to get into this. I wasn't that stupid, and for him to think that was insulting. Very, insulting. I stood by the front door opened it then closed it to make the impression I just came in. "I'm home, family!" I yelled. "In the kitchen." My parents said in unison. As if I didn't know that. I thought to myself.

I walked into our very pastel kitchen. The counters were a very soft Manila-white colored marble. The walls were a light blueish color. And the wooden cabinets were a medium brown color, but alittle bit more on the dark side. "What's for dinner?" I questioned. I was very hungry after the tree climbing.

"Your mother has prepared some Fried Philadelphia Rolls." My father appraised me. I was about to walk up our dark wooden stairs to my bedroom when my father asked me something. "Where have you been, may I ask?" Oh no. "I was with Clementine." I quickly said as I walked up the stairs, faster this time. "Don't go just yet." He commanded. Ugh. "Where were you both?"

"We took a walk. Together, we didn't break any rules." I said a bit harsh but I was upset that he would think that. "Why haven't we met her?" By this time I was really mad, Clementine isn't a threat. "She's not a threat. She hasn't broken any rules. She a safe person!" I yelled.

"Okay." He said."I'm sorry if I've upset you. I just think it's a bit sketchy we haven't met her is all." He said trying to calm me down but I was breathing a bit heavier because of my outburst. "Why don't you invite her to dinner tomorrow."

"She might be at work." I told him. "But I'll ask." I turned on my heel to walk away. "Wait. She's an older friend?"

"She's only two months older than I am! It's not that big of a job she's just doing it to get a bit of money!" I began to get mad again. "I'm sorry, Gale. You can go now."

I ran out the wooden stairs and slammed my bedroom door closed. I was mad at my father. But I was going to ask Clem, to come. To prove she's not a threat.
