VALENTINE SMITH WAS DISGUSTED— with herself, every time she looked in the mirror she saw a girl who was a nobody, loner, didn't have any friends, somebody she didn't want to be. She watched in the shadows, her presence clear like glass. Valentine Smith was like a ghost. She observed and observed how the ones who had many friends walked, how they talked, how they flaunted there body's and posted anything revealing for male attention. She wanted to be that, she didn't want to be herself anymore. She wanted to create a facade, the African American girl wanted to peak. She wanted to use her youth, use her body as a weapon and her smarts as armor. She wanted to be the girl in the movies that ruled the school, every boy wanted and every girl wanted to be. She imagined these fantasy's every night resting on the satin pillows. But then she realized she didn't have much time yet, so why not make those fantasy's a reality.
