Yoongi POV:
As I looked down at my omega asleep in my arms, I could feel the mate bond start to strengthen. Even though I knew it would take time, it showed me that Y/N was at least partially open to allowing us in to her heart. When I had scented her, she had melted in my arms, making me feel like everything was going to be alright, that things were going to work out for us. It gave me hope that one day soon she would let me in, let us in and we could be a real mate group, one that was filled with love and attention, intimacy and adoration, one that had the potential to last a lifetime.
Letting out a sigh, I pulled her closer, my heart fluttering in my chest as she snuggled into me, her arm coming to wrap around me. I had been hesitant when I had knocked on her door, not exactly sure how she was going to respond to me, how she was going to react. When I had offered to scent her, she had agreed so quickly and I couldn't help but be surprised. I had been expecting an instant denial and a request to leave, but here I was. Snuggled close to her, in her bed, her sweet scent filling my nose.
As I lay there, my mind drifted off to the last two years. When we had realized that Y/N had run away, I had felt a large chunk of my heart break off. I knew that rejecting her so harshly had been wrong, I knew it deep down in the bottom of my soul, but unfortunately, fear can make you act in unexpected ways. And for me? That's what it was. Fear. I was afraid. No scratch that. Downright fucking terrified. I had been with Hoseok for six years at that point and I had worried that things would change between us. If he had a female mate, would he still want me? Still love me?
Knowing what I do now, all my worries felt ridiculous. The addition of Y/N into our bond was something beautiful and perfect, something that I should have been happy about from the beginning, and something I should have jumped at the chance of having. I was no longer worried that Hoseok would love her more than me, that Hoseok wouldn't want me anymore. No. My new worry was that she would never willingly want us. The mate bond would not allow her to actually reject us, at least not without a fight on her part, but that wasn't enough. Not nearly enough. I wanted her heart too.
The almost deafening sound of rain and thunder had dwindled to a soft shower, one that felt more comforting than scary. And as much as I wanted to stay right here with my mate, I knew that Hoseok was probably worried about me. The other part of me also didn't want to see the unhappiness in Y/N's eyes when she woke up and I was still there. She had agreed to let me scent her, not to sleep in her bed. Rubbing my face along her neck one final time to ensure my scent was strong, I gently disentangled myself from her embrace and stood. Leaning down, I kissed her forehead, brushing the stray piece of hair away from her cheeks. "Sleep well my little mate." My voice was soft, gentle, almost afraid that I would wake her.
With silent footsteps, I left the room, shutting off the overhead lights throughout the apartment. After slipping on my shoes, I grabbed my umbrella and opened the door. Closing the door, I double-checked to make sure the apartment was locked up tight and my omega was safe then opened the umbrella to keep the warm rain off my head and made my way towards the house I shared with Hoseok. The rest of the land was dark and silent, except for the occasional beams of light from the security guards' flashlights. I knew they must have been walking the edge of the Deidamia Forest, checking to make sure our pack was safe from intruders, safe from those who might want to destroy our little slice of heaven.
When I arrived home, I wasn't surprised to see the kitchen light on and Hoseok seated at the table. He had a glass of wine in front of him, along with a stack of papers. From the map spread across the table, I knew he was going over the land documents. When Ray, along with Y/N, had arrived two years ago, it had been with the intentions of discussing the expansion of our land along their southern borders. It was fertile farmland and something we had been in dire need of. The negotiations had gone well, even after the disappearance of Y/N and we had immediately begun cultivating the land, making it suitable for our needs.
