"So it's Peggy, huh?" The tall brunet asked with his signature smirk. He walked over to the blond, undoing his own top two buttons.

"Bucky please, not now." Steve protested, annoyed, as he turned down the radio.

"Why not? Too scared to talk about your little crush?" The boy teased as he stood behind Steve's small frame with his arms crossed and his voice tinted with a hint of something Steve couldn't quite pick up on.

The blond turned around to face him, figuring that he'd probably be able to capture his emotions with his eyes, but he was wrong. Very wrong. Bucky remained indifferent, face like one of those handsome stone sculptures as he peered down at the the younger.

Soon enough, Steve gave Bucky a look, one that said something like: 'Really Buck?' and the brunet only sighed.

"Steve, listen. I'm not tryna embarrass you. I'm tryna help." He said with empathy as he shoved his hands into the deep pockets of his grey slacks. "You just need a little confidence."

Confidence? He was confident. Damn he was so confident that he could have taken on Bucky right there. At least that's what he thought.

"Confidence?" Steve clenched his fists with anger.

"Yeah. Wait- What exactly do you like about her?" Bucky questioned.

"Well there's a number of things really." He started. "Her short brown hair that's kinda curly. Her strong charm. Her red lips and oh gosh, those clear blu- uh brown eyes she has."

Bucky raised his brow and Steve could tell that there was something off about him. The brunet wasn't usually this way. He fucked up, big time.

"Well, Stevie, you're gonna need to take initiative soon." Bucky looked Steve up and down and watched as the blond fiddled with the hair on his thin neck. "Or she'll be the one making all the first moves."

Bucky stepped forwards, discarding some of the space between the boys and the blond couldn't help but think about what he had said, if it had a double meaning. Even just the way the tall boy was glaring down at him made his knees feel weak. He gulped.

"Bucky." Is all Steve managed to say before Bucky took another step forward.

"It's confidence Steve. Thats all you need. Confidence." His coarse whisper brushed at Steve's ear, leaving tingles running down his spine. It seemed to take over his body almost, his mind blanking out into nothing. It felt like millions of thoughts were rushing through his brain at one time. Yet it also felt like there were none, like a ghost town was living inside his head.

He felt his hands reaching up to the brunet's chest to push him away, watching as Bucky fell onto the couch with shock written on every feature of his beautiful face. He felt his feet taking slow strides towards that exact couch. And then, he felt himself crawling onto Bucky and straddling his thighs, though, this time he didn't just feel his own, but felt both his and the brunet's hearts trying to break through their ribcages to get to eachother.

Steve was so close that for a second he thought he could hear the blood gushing around Bucky's body, when in reality it was his own blood drowning out his hearing, pulling him into a place where only Steve and Bucky knew. Where everything or everyone, except for the hidden and undying love between the two, ceased to exist. Bucky was Steve's light in that place, and Steve was Bucky's. Their hearts were like north and south, pulling closer and closer and never repelling, no matter what.

In that moment, time was simply a theory and existence was just time, those matching pairs of crystal blue irises working like clockworks as they peered into eachother's eyes.

"Confidence." He said. "You said it was all I need." The boy spoke again. "But have you ever felt that it's you that needs it and not me?" Steve caressed the curve of Bucky's face as he whispered. "'Cause now might be the time, Bucky, where you see, just how lucky you might actually be."

And that's when fate finally pulled their lips together, the blue in their eyes bursting into flames of life behind the dark of their shut lids. For the first time in their lives, the weight on their shoulders crumbled and fell, forming merely into nothing as Bucky deepened the kiss, their mouths working against eachother's in what felt like a magical way, a way that should never end.

Bucky's hands followed trails down to the petite boy's waist, pulling his small body impossibly closer, like he wanted, needed it as close as possible, like it was his lifeline. They kissed and kissed until they were gasping for air, bodies still pushed close together in the fear of losing that feeling or that touch to the world and in Bucky's case, to Peggy.

"Who needs the confidence now?" The blond rhetorically asked with a smirk.

"But Steve, Peggy- I-" Bucky ignored Steve's snarky comment and stared with worried eyes, words jumbling as they met the tip of his tongue.

"Don't worry Buck, she's got nothin' on ya. It's all you, it's always been you." Steve reassured. "Everything I said, everything I explained, can't you see that it was all about you."

Bucky's brows furrowed, his focus dropping from Steve's face. All those times Steve had obsessed over the glamorous girl, those times he had dozed off in a dream of Peggy, it had been Bucky all along. Peggy was just a excuse to not get caught loving another man.

The pounding in the brunet's chest only seemed to get louder as it rung through his ears with a terrible thump. His eyes seemed to find their way up to Steve's eyes and then back down to his pretty lips and a peculiar feeling started to brew in the pit of Bucky's stomach, a feeling that made him want to hold the blond close and never let go.

So that's what he did, he pulled Steve in again, lips meeting his as they shared another loving kiss. This time it wasn't just a kiss, it was an action that replaced the millions of thoughts and emotions running through the brunet's body. Yet, even after they had pulled away from one another, Bucky felt the need for more as those thoughts and feelings found their way back into his mind. He needed to say it. He needed to get it out.

"I love you." He rushed.

All it took were those three words to empty his troubled mind. Time stopped, but their hearts still pounded against their chests in a rhythm that could easily be compared to a melody.

Steve's eyes opened wide for a second before an extensive smile spread across his lips, showing off his pearly white teeth. Bucky could almost physically see the joy radiating off of the blond.

"I love you too, Buck." It slipped out of his mouth as smooth as carmel and it's like Bucky's purpose was only meant for that one moment. If he could, he'd relive it over and over again just to feel that feeling he longed for, rise through his body.

"I know, Stevie. I know."
