Living up to other people's
expectations instead of yours
will hinder you from living your
own life.

One thing I appreciate about a person is their initiative to uplift and empathize with other people. Whether it's through lending an ear to their endless rambles, checking in on the feelings they keep bottled up, or simply assuring them that you'll be there for them, these simple acts of kindness make a significant impact in one's life.

Raphael has no idea how much he helped me when we first met. I'll cherish that moment we shared for a lifetime.

That's the reason he's the perfect partner for my passion project. Parehas kaming may puso na tumulong sa ibang tao, kilala man namin sila o hindi. Though, it might also look like an excuse to get closer to him. Well... it kinda is.

"I heard from Raguel's parents that you have a passion project?" Dad asked.

Magkaibigan ang mga magulang namin ni Raguel at isa sa madalas nilang pinag-uusapan ay ang pag-aaral namin. Hindi na dapat ako nagulat na alam ito ni Dad.

"Yes, Dad," I said in a formal tone. "I already thought of a project, actually,"

I've been worrying about his approval of my passion project. Pakiramdam ko kasi hindi niya magugustuhan. It's no use ruminating about it, it's better to tell him and see what he thinks of it.

"Connected ba sa business ang gagawin mo? If it is, that's good! It will help you in the future!" My mom exclaimed.

An awkward smile escaped my lips. Nahawa na ata ako kay Raphael. "It's about helping other people. Do you know the cafe near my school? There's this wishing board where they write their heart's desire. I want to help them in fulfilling it."

Nanatiling tahimik ang mga magulang ko, kaya nakaramdam ako ang kaunting kaba. Do they not like it? Are they disappointed with what I thought? Will they go against it again? Will they tell me to change it and do as they say?

Bumasag sa katahimikan ang pagtawa ni Ate Aries. "Ang korny naman niyang naisip mo! Making others happy? Ano ka, santo?"

Is there something wrong with wanting that? I wanted to ask her, but I kept my mouth shut. Hearing my parents' thoughts about it is more important.

"Orion, I don't think that's a good idea. You're not their servant, why would you help them?" Dad sighed in disappointment.

Narinig ko naman ang paghagikgik ni ate sa gilid. Kung hindi pa siya pinatahimik ni Mom, siguro hanggang bukas niya akong pagtatawanan. Malakas mang-asar, eh. I'm not evern sure if she's really my sibling. Ang layo ng ugali sa'min.

"Your mother's right. It should be connected to the course you're taking in college, not something useless like granting wishes. You should know that you need to do something related to your future! Alam mo na dapat 'yon! Ilang taon ka na, eh," he clicked his tongue and went back to eat.
