Michael AFTON, son of William AFTON/Scraptrap, is reborn as a new human being and has no memory of his previous life. his new name is Makoto Naegi and he attends to his new high school called Hope's Peak high school, but he gets more than he bargain...
a few weeks have passed ever since the final battle at Hope's Peak. Makoto Naegi survived the battle, but his body was greatly injured. shattered ribs, broken arm bones, a bit of internal bleeding and some burns. Naegi's injuries were almost fatal, but with the help of Elizabeth and future foundation medical services, he survived. the remaining students, Naegi, Kirigiri, Togami, Maizono, Celestia, Fukawa, Asahina and Hagakure were offered to join Future Foundation to fight against the despair across the globe. they accepted the offer and joined the 14th division, with Kirigiri as their branch leader. the Ultimate Despair members that were at Hope's Peak during the battle were not seen ever since and the Future Foundation concludes the members returned to the tasks of spreading despair again but with Junko and Afton's defeat, the Ultimate Despair was weakened and the Future Foundation strengthened.
As for Elizabeth Afton, due to her being William Afton's daughter and using the body of Junko Enoshima, she was forced to start off as an intern alongside Fukawa for having Genocide Jack. Juzo didnt like the idea of having the enemy's daughter as part of the foundation, but Naegi and the others convinced him that Elizabeth will help the Future Foundation greatly. when the Future Foundation attempted to find Afton's body in the destroyed building he was launched to and destroyed, it was nowhere to be been, not even a remain. it worried Naegi and the others bit as the Ultimate Despair, now called the Remnants of Despair, may have salvaged Afton. Elizabeth hasnt gotten over what happened with Nagito and what he meant back at Hope's Peak, so she makes it her mission to locate him herself. Maizono on the other hand, she confessed to Naegi about her feelings for him and how he protected her against the dangers they went through. Naegi admits that he too is in love with her, so they started dating.
the world was starting to be rebuild by the Future Foundation but the Remnants of Despair still posed a great threat to society as a whole and no matter what happens, Hope is will stand atop to stop despair from running rampant. this is a goal set out by Makoto Naegi, The Ultimate Hope.
in front of a Future foundation office building Naegi just finished up his work and met up with his girlfriend, Maizono.
Naegi: "how long were you standing there?" he says a bit puzzled.
Maizono: "well i got here about 10 minutes ago, now lets get home alright?" she says with a closed eye smile and locks arms with Naegi.
Maizono: "how are your injuries?" she says with her voice sounding a bit worried.
Naegi: "well they're feeling alot better now, tho when i use my remnant they burn a bit. im still training to become immune to my own fire."
Maizono: "thats good to hear. im just glad your here. i dont know what I'll do without you Makoto." she says and looks down.
Naegi: "i told you i wasnt going to die. I have to protect you and the others. more importantly i have to help the world." he says in a gentle tone which calms Maizono and she smiles at him.
Maizono: "yea. your right. i was just overreacting a bit." she says apologizing and both make it to their small apartment building. as Naegi and Maizono get ready for bed, Maizono sees something out of the corner of her eye in the doorway....a pair of white glowing eyes and teeth.
