they both arrived to the hospital in record timing, rue sprinting to the doors and over to the elevator since nyx's room was at the 4th floor.

"fuck, fuck, please be okay, please." she mumbled under her breath. sapnap was on the verge of tears, and it made rue want to knee him in the stomach.

once the elevator finally beeped and opened up, rue ran down the halls, opening the door to nyx's room, sapnap right behind her.

and there she was.

machines were beeping way too loud for rue's liking, and she noticed nyx's chest was no longer going up and down in a regular breathing motion.

it was still.

"no, no, no, wake up, come on please nyx i'm right here!" rue didn't stop her tears from falling, instead pretended they weren't there.

"nyx, i'm so so fucking sorry, please, that was fucking disgusting of me."

rue slapped his cheek, hands shaking. "she's fucking dying, and if you make her last moments like this, i will never, ever forgive you."

the machines stopped beeping all of a sudden.

now it was a still buzz. no lines went up or down.

"time of death, 8:46 pm, september 12th - nyx reynolds."

"i'm sorry." sapnap whispered, then let his tears go.

just as nyx was let go.
