rue's pov (3rd person)
"hi, sorry, we're clo-"
"where's nyx?"
that voice only belongs to the person she despised most.
"if you don't get out of this store, i'm punching you until your lights go out."
"woah, woah, chill out, where is she?"
"at the fucking hospital."
rue turned to face sapnap, his face ghostly pale. "did she -"
"stop caring about her. you never did, why now?"
"is she okay, just please god i want to know!"
rue rolled her eyes. "no. she's been in there since last, last friday."
"what's wro -"
rue's phone lit up, a ringing tone erupting from it.
her heart dropped when she saw it was the hospital calling.
"uh, hello."
"hi. you're rue woods, correct?"
"mhm."
"please come to the hospital as soon as you can."
"oh shit, what's wrong?"
"just please come, you'll know once you get here."
"but -"
the phone clicked off, indicating they had hung up.
"fuck, fuck, fuck."
"what's wrong? is she okay? can i come with you?"
"hell no."
sapnap's eyes were watery. he had gotten close to the girl, and it took this to finally realize how bad the little bet was.
"please, please, i'll do anything."
rue scoffed, then walked out the door, waving sapnap to follow her.
"god, thank you."
"say one more fucking word and i will tape your mouth shut."
