THIRTEEN. . .

- medication is talked about a few times here , please be weary of that !!!

nyx made it to the doctors office after a long nap, though it didn't make them feel any better.

the smell of cleaning products hit them as soon as they walked in, the overwhelming stench making them want to walk out.

"hi, name?"

"nyx reynolds."

"age, date of birth, reason why you're here?"

"'m 22, october 14, 1999." nyx paused to catch their breath. "my heart has these weird palpitations constantly, it feels like it's going too fast, i guess?"

"understood, the doctor will call your name as soon as she's ready for you."

nyx nodded, then went to go sit down at the uncomfortable metal chairs. the coldness hit their thighs head-on.

over the course of the few minutes, the people who had walked in before them got their names called. nyx was not a very patient person, but they tried to calm their heart down as much as they could, though it didn't work.

finally, the female nurse with red hair called out nyx's name. they followed her into one of the rooms, where nyx sat down in one of the seats.

"so, nyx, what's going on today?"

"my heart."

"ah, yes, palpations, is what it says here. is that correct?"

nyx nodded their head absentmindedly, fidgeting with their silver ring.

"okay, well, we can run some scans on your heart to see if anything is wrong, and if not we'll just give you some antibiotics for the common flu, since your symptoms seem to be similar to those, does that sound okay?"

"yeah."

"wonderful, please follow me."

nyx sat through what felt like a million scans, but when it was finally over, they were nervous about the results. what if it was something serious? what if they were just being dramatic and it was nothing?

the kind lady walked back in with a few sheets of paper, nyx guessing they were the test results.

"well, from these scans, there seems to be nothing abnormal about your heart, mx. nyx."

"oh."

"but, no worries, we'll still give you some medication for everything else you're feeling, then you can be back to being healthy!"

"uh, alright then."

the medications were located at the pharmacy right down the road, so nyx only had to drive a few minutes to get their medication.

they took the amount said, then let it do its work as they napped. their drowsiness and dizziness had slipped away once they woke up, but their heartbeat still felt irregular.

they weren't missing another day of work though. missing work means missing sapnap.

and that's not going to happen.
